selves in the crime of treason, and subject the
people of the city of Lawrence to all the horrors
and calamities of insurrection and ^lull war
If you will now desist from the projected re•
solution, the past will be forgotten as far as prac•
ticable, but If you persist in passing these laws,
and carrying them into execution, thus defying
and superoeding the government of your coup •
try, the deplorable consequences meu+t be upon
your heads and those of your associaies. It will
be my purpose, if you still persist, to spare all
bloodshed u far as practicable, and subject the
leaders and projectors of this revolutionary
