And I further give notice, as in and by
ltlth Section of the aforesaid Act I am di
rected to. That all persons, excepting Jus
tices of the Peace, who slull hold any cilice
or appointment if profit or trust under the
government of tht United States, or of this
State, or any city or incorporated district,
whether a commissioned officer or olhei wise,
a subordinate oi agent, who is or shall be I
employed under she legislative, judiciary or
executive iepartment of this State or the
United States, or any city or incorporated
district ; also that every member of Con
gress and the State Legislature, and of the
select and common councils or any incor
porated district, is by law incapable of
holding or exercising, at the same time, the
e ffiio or appointment of Judge, Inspector,
or Clerk of any election of this Common
wealth, and that no Inspector or Judge, or
other officer of any such election shad be
eligible to any c-fdee then to be voted for.
Also, in the 4th section of the Act of As
sembly, entitled " An Act relating to elec
tions and for other purposes," Approvd
the 10th day of April lbotj, it is 'enacted
that the fwgoing ICth section shall not bo
so construed as to prevent any military offi
cer or Borough officer from serving as Judge
or Inspector at any general or special elec
tions in the Commonwealth.
Also, that in the Gl section of said Act
it is enacted that "every General and Spe
cial Flection shall be opened between the
hours of eight and tea o'clock in the fore
noon and shall continue without interrup
tion or ajournmcnt, until seven o'clock in
the evening, when the polls shall be closed.
Tho general, special, city, incoiporated,
district and township elections ami all elec
tions for electors of President ami Vice Presi
dent of the United States, shall be held and
conducteel by the inspectors and Judges
electeel as aforesaid, and by clerks appointed
as hereinafter provided.
No person shall be permitted to vote at
any election, as aforesaid, but a white free
man of the age of twenty-one years or more.

years paid a State or County tax which

before the election. But a citizen of the
United States who had previously been a

taxes as aforesaid, shall be entitled to vote
after residing in this State six months.
Provided, That the white freemen, citizens
of the United States, between the ages cf
twenty-eno and twenty-two years onrTtave

aforesaid, shall bo entitled to vote although
they shall not have paid their taxes.
No person shall be permitted to vote
whose iame is not contained in the list cf
taxable inhabit mts, furnished by the com

Pursuant to the provisions contained ie.
the Act firt aforesaid, the Jude.es of the
aforesaid districts shall respectively tahe
charge of the certificate or return of their
respective districts and produce them at a
meeting of one Judge from each district, at
the Court House, ia the Borough of Hbcns
burg,. on the Third day after the day of
election, being Friday the 13th day of Oc
tober. A. D., lHOii then and there to do and
perform those duties rcapuired ef them by
law. And further, if any Judge, by .sickness or
unavoidable accident is unable to attend
said meeting of Judges' then the certificate
or return aforesaid shall be taken charge of
by one of the Inspectors or Clerks of the
election of the same district, who shall do

That the qualified voters of the several
cmmtii s of this Commonwealth, ot all gen
eral, township, borough, and special elec
tions, are hereby hereafter, authorized and
rebuired to vole, by tickets, printed or writ
ten, or partly printed and partly written,
severally classified as follows : One ticket
shall embrace the the names of all judges of
courts voted for, and to be labeled. ouUnle,
"judiciary ;" ono ticket shall embrace .the
names of all state officers voted for, aud be
labelled ' state ;" one ticket shall embrace
the names of all couuty officers voted for
including office f senator, member anil
members of assembly, if voted for aud
members of congress, if voted for, and be

ted for and be labeled "township;" one

ough officers voted for, and be labelled "bor

separate ballot boxes.
