U. S. IK0 BONDS.
These Bonds are issued under the Act of
Congress if March 8th, 1864, which pro
vides that all Bonds issued under this Act
shall be EXEMPT FROM TAXATION by
or under any state or municipal authority.
Subscriptions to these Bonds aie received m
United States notes or notes of Na ional
Banks. Thej are TO BE REDEEMED IN

at any period not less than ten nor move than
forty years from their date, and until red. mp

t payable on the fi.std.iys of March and Si p

Subscribers wili receive cither iiegu-teretl

gistered Bonds are recorded on the books of
ihe U. S. Treasurer, ai d can be transferred
only on the owner's order. Coupon Bonds
are payable, to bearer, and are more conve

Subscribers to this loan will have the op
tion of having their Bonds draw ntero.-t
from March 1st, by paying the accrued in
terest in coin (or in United States notes,
or the notes of National Banks, ad iiiij. fi y
per cent, for premium.) or receive them
drawing interest from the date of subscrip
tion and deposite. As these Bonds are
EXEMPT FROM MUNICIPAL OR STATE
TAXATION,
their value is increased from one to thr'.'c
per cent, per annum, according to th. rate
of tax levies in various parts of the country.
At the present rate of premium on gold
they pay

as a permanent or temporary investment.
It is believed that no stcmities oil', r so

descriptions of U. S. Bom's. Iu all other
forms of indebtedness the faith or ability of
private parties or stock companies or sepa

Tiie.-e Bonds may be subscrjbed for iu

.same terms, and ure thus made equally
available t the smallest lender and and
the Iftrge.-t capitalist. The' can be con-Y'-rtcd

holder will have the Win-fit of the interest.
It may be useful t state in this ennee
