There was a meeting of from eight to
ten thousand men, in arms, hold last
Saturday at Van Duren's faun near Mal
toon, in this State. The meeting was
held to protest against illegal arrests, the
Conscription, and other arbitrary measures
of the Government. This meeting wasr
in my opinion, the most significant opjo
sition to the Government policy which
was dir,p:a3,ed rinee.lhe- w:tr began. The
meeting was addres-scd by able speakers,
and be fore and after the speaking, they
went through regular dull, both horse and
foot, under able olfieeis. The cavalry
numbered one thousand, and was armed
the Court from granting licenses ;
