which passed the house to-day, has yet to be
acted upon by the Senate. The President is
authorized to accept the services of 500,000
volunteers. The appropriation of 500,000
000 was stricken out, for the reason that the
money for their support will be provided for

Mr. Vas Wick's amendment was voted
down. It proposed that the Chaplain, or
other competent person of every regiment, be
appointed Post master, to frank letters and
