nia, entitled "An act to regulate the General
Elections of this Commonwealth," it is vujoiued
upon mc to give public "notice of such election,

passed Aj.rd 1 1th. 1848, it is enacted that: The
election , fur the. ELECTORS of President and
Vice President of the United States, shall in the
year of our Lord. 1848, and every fourth year

so cor.strned as to prevent any military ofacer or
borough officer from serving as Judge or Inspec
tor. atauy general or -special election in this Com

Also that in the 6lst section of said Act it is
enacted' 4hat every general and Special Election
shall be opene-1 between the hours of eight and
ten o'clock in tho forenoon, aud shall continue
without interruption or adjournment, until seven
o'clock in the evening, when the polls shall be
cloCed. . . : : . .
The general, special, city, incorporated district,
and township elections, and all elections for elec
tors of President and Vice President of the Uni
ted Suites, shall be held an 1 conducted by the

by clerks appointed as hereinafter provided.

Pursuant to the provisions contained In the
Act first aforesaid, the "Judges of the aforesaid
districts shall respectively take charge of the
certificate or return of the-ir respective districts,
and produce them at a meeting of one Judge
from each district, at the Court House, in the
Borough of Ebensburg. on Friday next (Novem
ber 9th) after the first Tuesday of November
next, then and thereto do and perform tho--
duties required e-f them by law.
And further, if any Judge, by sickness or un
avoidable accident is unablo to attend said mee
ting of Judge, then tlie certificate or return
atorosaid shall be taken charge ot l.y one ol the
Inspectors or clerks of the election of the same
di.-trict. who shall do and perform the duties of
sai 1 Judge unable to attend.
