Inspectors and Judges tlected as aforesaid, and
by clerks appointed as hereinafter provided. ' "

first he produce a receipt for the payment within

toiy evidence, either on his own oath or affirma
tion, or that of another, that he has pjvid such
tax, or on failure to produce a receipt, shall make
oath of the payment theieof, or, second, if Le
claim a right to vote by being au tbrctor between
the aze of twenty-one and twenty-two years, ne
shall deiose on oath or affirmation that he has
resided in the State at least one year before his
application, and make such proof of his residence
in the district as is required by this Act aud that
he does verily believe, from the accounts given
him, that he is of age aforesaid, and give such
other evidence as is required by this act, where
upon the name of theper.vm so admitted to vote,
shall be inserted in the Alphabetical list by the
Inspectors, and a note made opposite thereto bv
writing the word "Tax" if he shaT bs m rm'it ,"l
to vote by reason of having paid tax; or the w.rd
"Age" if he shall be admitted to vote by reason

who shall make like uotes in the list of voters
kept by them.
"In all cases where the name of a person claim

Inspectors to examine such person on oath as to
his qualifications, and if he claims to have re
sided within the State fr oue year or more, his

shall make proof thereof by at least one compe
tent witness, who shall be a qualified elector,
that he has resided within the district for more
than ten days next preceeding said election, and
shall a!so himself swear that his bona fi !e resi
dence, in pursuance of his lawful calling, is with
in the district, and that he did uot remove into
said district f jr the purpose of voting therin.
"Every person qualified, as aforesaid, aud who
shall make due proof, is required of his residence,
and payment of taxes as aforesaid, shall he ad
mitted to vote in the township, ward, or district,
in which he shall reside.
"If any person shall prevent or attempt to

Act first aforesaid, the Judges of the aforesaid
districts shall respectively take charge of the
certificate or return of their resjiective distric's.

ber 9th) after the first Tuesday of November
