Jacobi has lorne up remarkably well, until
within a few days past, when his stoic indiffer
ence is no more apparent. He shows uo signs of
emotion, when entertaining company, but his
thoughts prey up. n him ti-rribly iu the silent
h- iirs cf night. His cell mate, a German, onfi
ned upon a charge of larceny, states that Jacobi
has slej t but little for several nights past. He
tosses ami turns upon his miserable cot, and fre
quently gives vent 1 1 his feelings by tears and
sobs. He c i.n nut suffer to remain in the cell
without a light, and a candle is kept constantly
burning. He often speaks in the most touching
manner in reference to his children, and wonders
what shall become of them after he is gone. He
attributes his mental distress to this painful
anxiety in regard to the welfare of his children,
and does not admit that he fears death on his own
account.
Wretched, wretched ijdeeil, is the condition of

them of that which they have forfaited by crimes
so unnatural and atrocious. Fit's. True Freis.

A compound remedy, in which we have la-
bored to produce the most effectual alterative
! that can he made. It is a concentrated extract
of Para Sarsaparilla, so combined with othti
substances of still greater alterative power us
to afford an effective antidote for the diseases
Sarsaparilla is reputed to cure. It is believed
that such a remedy is wanted by thoie who
suffer from Strumous complaints, and that on
which will accomplish their cure must prove
of immi-nse service to this large class of our
afllicted ftllow-citiitns. How completely this
compound will do it has been proven by exper
iment on many of the worst cases to be found
of the following complaints :
SCKOFCIA AND Scilol ULOr3 CoMPI.AINT,
Ekuptioxs and Eiivptive Diseases, L'Lcnos.
Pimples, 13lotcui.3, Tcmous, tjALx Hueum,
Scalu Head, Syphilis and Stpuiluic Af
i hctioxs, Meucumal Disease, Dropst, Nec
rai.gia on Tic DocwtUECi, Deeii-itt, Dts
PErSIA ASD IXDIGESnOX, EaT'IPEEAS, Kosb
on. Sr. Axihosv's Fiue, and indeed the wholu
class of complaints arising from iMPViuxr cf
the Blood.
This compound will be found a great pro
moter of health, when taken in the spring, te
expel the foul humors which fester in tha
blood at that season of the year. By the time
ly expulsion of them many rankling elisordori
are nipped in the bud. "Multitudes can, by
the aid of tlus remedy, spare themselves from
the endurance of foul eruptions and ulccrou
sores, through which the system will strive to
rid itself of corruptions, if not assisted to do
this through the natural channels of the body
hv an alterative medicine. Cleanse out tho
vitiated blood whenever you find its impurities
bursting through the skin in pimples, eruptions,
or sores ; cleanse it when you rind it is ob
structed and 6luggioh in the veins ; cleanse it
whenever it is foul, and your Kt.mgs wui tea
you when. Even where no particular disorder
is felt, people enjoy better health, and live
longer, lr cleamjng the blood. Keep tin -blood
healthy, and all is well ; but with this
pabulum of life disordered, there can be no
lasting health. Sooner or later something
must tro wrong, and the great machinery of
life is disordered or overthrown.
Sarsaparilla has, and deserves much, the
reputation, of accomplishing these ends. Hut,
the world has been egregiously deceived by
preparations of it, partly because the drug
alone lias not all the virtue that is claimed
for it, but more because many preparations,
pretending to be concentrated extracts of it,
contain but little of the virtue of Sarsaparilla,
or any thing else.
During late years the public have been mL
Itd by large bottles, pretending to give a quart
of Extract of Sarsaparilla for one dollar. Most
of these have been frautls upou the sick, for
they not only contain little, if any, Sarsapa
rilla, but often no curative properties whatev
er. Hence, bitter and painful disappointment
has followed the isc of the various extracts cf
Sarsaparilla which flood the market, untd the
name itself is justly despised, and has become
synonymous with imposition and cheat. Still
we call this compound Sarsaparilla. and intend
to eupprV such a remedy as shall rescue the
name from the load ct "obloquy which rests
upon it. Ar.d -we thmk we have ground for
believing it has viitues which are irresistible
by the ordinary run of the diseases it is intend
ed to cure. In order to secure their complete
nrnrliojitiun from the system, the remedy thou Id
be judiciously taken according to dirceticrj ca
the bottle.
