Beautiful Answers. A pupil of the Abbe
Sieord gave the following extraordinary an
swers '"What is gratitude?"
"Gratitude is the memory of the heart "
What is hope'"
Hope is the blossom of happinea."
" What U the difference between hope and
desire?"
"Desire ia a tree in leaf. Lope is a tree in
fiwwer, and enjoyment is a tree in fruit."
What is eternity?'
"A day without yesterday or tomorrow a
line that ha3 no end."
What is timer .
"A line that hath two ends a parh which
begins in the cradle and cods in .the tomb."
"What is God?"
'The nece-sary being, the sum of eternity,
the niachienist cf nature, the eye of justice,
the watch-maker of the universe, the soul of
the wor!d."
"Doe God resii.?''
