AltboTigb the Rulcsand Regulations of the Cam
Vria Ccunty Agricultural S n icty do not specially
require a public exhibit f f its financial affairs,
reverthcless, in jmblishiug the shove statement
tbo officers feel tht they are but discharging a
duty to themselves, and to the menders f the
pocicty. A duty to the ofaccrs: because it must
tandto relieve tht m from any unjust aspersions
relativo to an injudicioiis use of tlo funds of thc
eociety. A duty to the members : because it is
their right and province to know how those funds
lava peen appropriated.
In view of the infant stnte cf the society, and
H consequent scarcity of funds, no premiums
'ere paid at the first fair, the various contestants
meanwhile, contenting themsel ves with tbe pleas
ure and satisfaction resulting from the exhibition.
At the second fair, however, there were awards
made amounting to about Three hundred dollars ;
and, although the balance above shown would be
highly inadequate to discharge that sum, vet we
r enabled to ktate, that, through the generosity
cf a number of exhibitors who have donated their
j'reaefcrma, end Hv mn erraryrycajt reeept rffe?-
ted, all the premiums reiriaining unsatisfied, will
be promptly paid. Those entitled will, therefore,
call upon the Treasurer in accordance with the
regulations of the society.
As all similar organizations are necessarily at
tended with considerable expense at the outset,
it could r.t be expected, that the Cambria county
Agricultural Scie'ty should be an exception. In
making the reriuisite arrangements for tho con
venience of visitors an1 competitors, and the com
fort ami safety of the stock for exhibition, how
pyer economical the various committees msy lie,
a much greater outlay becomes nectssary thnn
would nt first b-e supposed. A reference to the
.'itimrnt bovc given, will readily explain this.
