IV Eli AND SHAVEK. The attention of
S.ungle amUumlier dealers, sjxtmlators and oth

is now presented to the public as the first and on

Various Xc"inj and saiciiig machines have been
invented fui making Shingles, but it is a well
known facj that Shindies cm or sawed across the
grain are quite too himsy for roolTmg purpises.
Numerous iuveutious have recently apjieared for
riving an j shaving, and these have all been con
demned as worthless, from their imperfect method
of riving, frhich con -lists of e-.ilitf ing from the side
of the blurk but mw thi:i;'e, which almost inva

Its operations are by ni means coiifiiied to pine
and other soft wood, but works t-j equal advan

timber that can te split.
The workings of the machine can be extmTned
at II. H. Ryan's Furniture Buildings, Fifth street,
Pittsburgh.
To tin.er owners, shingle dealers, and men of
enterprise, this opens a new field for speculation;
