THE HOME JOURNAL.
MORRIS AND WILLIS. EDITOR.
The first number of the new series will be is
sued on the first of January next. New subscri
bers can be supplied from that date ; but im
mediate application will be necessary fur such a
desire to begin with' the beginning. A home is
hardly complete, we think we may safely venture
to say, without the Home Journal, which, besides
being a chronicle of the times, abounds in intelli
gence designed to enliven an American Home.
Its editors (Geo. P. Morris and N. P. Willis) de
vote their entire time, skill and experience, to the
task of giving, each week, everything worth
kno wing. They particularly keep an eye on all
the whims and novelties of the any. The utmost
pains are-taken to present the facts and out iucs
of all news. In the literary department, 'we aim
at sketches and readable criticism, and in our
condensations of the producifens of the vast
newspaper world of Europe, we endeavour to
avoid the tiresome and the local, and transfer to
our coluraus lhe pick of English information and
brilliancy, while we endeavour to sch'.ct with a
true sense of pure morals, true wit, and genuine
humour.. In addition to the above, we have made
new arrangemtuts for a feature that is always
attractive in a family journal. From several dif
ferent sources vwe are to be supplied wit "the
news, and gossip of New York Society." In a
metropolis like ours, centre the more sparkling
element of the life of our couutiy at large, .and
collision and attrition bring out mujh which
would else be dormant. -Afloat, in socio y gossip,
is a small world, of which the ordinary newspa
pers make no report, and of this we think we can
promise amusing photographs In announcing
also; A Jfc-'ir gericrs of artides by Mr. Wilus, in
addition to hi3 usual editorial labours, we claim
the privilege of leaving them to designate their
own style ami title as they appear. They are to
be quite different from anything which lias ever
been published in this journal from his pen, and
we are very sure that they will be no less attrac
tive, to say the least. The graphic and highly
finished sketches, by "The Lady of Shalott,"
- "Timothy Quaint" and others, will be continued.
We have also new correspondents in London ar:d
Pari, who will send us much that could never
reach us through foreign Journals.
Terms For one copy, $2; for three copies, $5,
or for one copy for three years, $5 always in ad
vance. Subscribe without delay. - Address
