nollidayhburg, Feb. 3, 1851 4in.
TO IMIYSICIAXH.
The attention of the Medical Profession in Penn.
is respectfully invited to the following important
facts :
1. Not less than two thirds of the American wo
meu are afllicted with Prolapsus Uteri, and its as
sociated complaints; the result of nnturl delica
cy of organization ; defective physical education ;
early marriages ; the various ueeidents of pregnn
cy, nnd labor, and general neglect of hygienio mea
sures. r2- That ns Prolapses Uteri is a displacement or
"falling" of this organ, it necessarily involves a
like descent, or .viy of the Heart, Lungs,
Stomach, nnd Rowels, and that one l'uudhncntal
condition cf cure in all these cases, is, the applica
tion cf such a Physiological brace, or supporter,
n3 will tno6t effectively lrare the weak Ivack nnd
withnut comjtrrtrnm, asuitl the re In red a n d over taxed
tnu-cles in performing their natural office of lifting
nnd huhliny in (luir j lnre, the dragging viscera of
the Chest and Abdomen from the depressed Uterus.
T he observation of every Physician, and the exten
sive nnd increasing use of nUluiuiu.il supporters,
(so called) furnishes conclusive proof of this.
3. That tho Supporters now in use never have
received the approval of the profession, because,
they all, in common, act ns 'heating and confining
claiiij'S, cor.iinsxef, and rehiring potiliire, creating
a necessity for their jprpctual use by rc-itiiini,.g
the freedom anil exercise of the muscles, which
they should only assist, and, also, tiggrnv.tting the
"filling" nnd dragging, by their crouding and eom
prcxsi.ij rather, than their bracing and elevat:ii'.
tendency.
4. hi view of the above fact , which every Thy
sici m has beeu co'i-.pclleil to feel but too keenly, is
it no! the duty, as well as the interest of the Pro
fession, ta seek for an instrument which acts upon
established principles of pathology, nnd which is at
once cfi'ecthc, nnd necessary to the success of the
prnctitioijer, and professional in its origin und de
sign t
The I'jidersigned, therefore, acting in accordance
with the true interests of tho Profession, nnd after
iiiuch investigation nnd outlay, now o tiers to them
an instrument which fully meets all the alxivc in
ilicr.tioiis. The Brace invented by Dr. Banning of
N. V., has alone received the approbation of the
Profession, or taken rank as a permanent contribu
tion to Medical Science. While it supports the
wc;ik back and lifts up the abdominal viscera, the
undersigned, by combining It with a recent inven
tion, has added greatly to its efuciency in erecting
tte iodg nnd cspundii.g the tftczt. aii.l tUcso instru
ments are believed to fulfil ejerjf indication that can
be derived from mechanical support, while acting
in complete harmony with the forces of nuture.
Desirous of introducing these Braces though the
cooperation of Physicians.and being enabled to fur
nish them at Manufacturers prices you are respect

The. heat female medicine known ! The peculiar
maladies to which females ore subject commonly
produce great bodily exhaustion, accompanied by
a depressed anil often gloomy state of mind. As
the fysteiu declines in- strength there is a loss of
nervous power, and this very naturally impairs the
energy of the mind and disturbs the equanimity of
the temper. Every candid woman who has suffer
ed from female complaints wi'l admit this to be
the mournful truth. Now, to obtain relief, it is
only necessary to stop the tendency to depletion
nnd debility. This is done by renewing that foun

of your Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla upon my son

loathsome disease, Erysipelas, with which he was
attacked in 1818, and was for several months at

their skill preseveringly for five months without any
beneficial effect whatever. He became reJuced to
a perfect skeleton. He had ulcers from his hip

ging offensive matter. Medical and surgical skill
was batiied. Physicians eid that his case wns

ancholy truth that thousands fall victims to Con
sumption every year from no other cause than ncg
lected colds ; yet we find hundreds und thousands
who treat such eouidainis with the greatest indif
ference, and iel them run on fur weeks, and even
months without thinking of the danger. At first
you hiive what you consider a slight cough or cold;
allow business, pleasure cr carelessness to prevent
you from giving it any attention; it then settles
upoH your breast, you become hoarse, have pains
in the si le m chest, expectorate large quantities of
matter, perhaps mixed with blood ; a difficulty of
breathing ensues, nnd then you find your own fool
ish neglect has brought on this complaint. If, then
you value your life or health, be warned in time,

procure a bottle or two of that famous remedy, Dn.

J. IK Park Dear Sir: I i-ite tho liberty of a 1-vi.-ing
you of the benefits 1 have derived from tho
use of Dr. Wistnr's Balsam cf Wild Cherry. I was
prostrated by that terrible scourge consumption,
iu May biit. The attack was truly horrifying to
mc, for five of our family, (my brothers and Ma
ters) bad died of consumption. I was aiiliclcd with
nearly all the worst features of the disease; 1 had
a distressing cough, and expectorated a good deal
of blood; hectic fever, severe pains in the side and
chest, cold chilis, alternating with Hushes of heat
and copious night sweats.
1 wns under the care of n bhillful physician, from
the time 1 was taken sick until about six weeks
since: being then helpless, and my friends consid
ering my case hopeless, advised the use of W'istnr's
Balaam of Wild Cherry. Without my knowledge,
my father procured it, and commenced administer
ing it to me, nnd from the day I first commenced
vising it, I wns able to be out ani oversee my busi
ness, which I still continue to do. I took four bot
tles, and urn now well. I make this statement to
induce others thnt ai-e nfilicted as I have been, to
make a trial of the medicine which has, under the
blessing of Providcnco, restored my health.
