TO PI1VSICIAXS.
j
. The attention of the Medical Profession in Penn.
is respectfully invited li the following imjtortaut
'acts :
; 1. Not less than two thirds of the American wo
men are utllicted with Prolapsus Uteri, and its as
sociated complaints ; the result of natural delica
cy of organization ; defective physical education :
varly marriages ; the various accident of pregnan
cy, and labor, and general neglect of hygeuic mea
sures.
2. That as Prolapses Uteri is a displacement, or
4falling" of this organ, it necessarily involves a
like descent, or dragging of the Heart, Lungs,
Stomach, and Bowels, and that one fundimental
condition of cure in all these cases, is, the applica
tion of such a Physiological brace, or supporter,
as will most effectively brace the weak back and
irithout compression, assitt tho relaxed and over-taxed
muscles in performing their natural affice of lifting
and holding in their place, the dragging viscera of
Jie Chest and Abdomen from the depressed Uterus.
The observation of every Physician, and the cxten
ove and increasing use of abdominal supporters,
(So called) furnishes conclusive proof of this.
3. That the Supporters uow in use never have
received the approval of the profession, because,
they all, in common, act as heating and confniny
damps, compressts, and rdaxing poultices, creating
h necessity for their perpetual use by restraining
the freedom and exercise of the muscles, which
lliey .fcliould onlv nssigt, ami. also, tigrrifing Use
falling'" aii'i drugging, by their j...,
pressing rather, than their bracing aud elevating
tendency.
4. Iu view of the above facts, which every Phy
sician has been compelled to feel but too keenly, is
it not the duty, as well as the interest of the Pro
fession, to seek for an instrument which acts upon
established priuciples of pathology, and which is at
once effective, and necessary to the success of the
practitioner, and professional iu its origin aud de
lign :
The undersigned, therefore, acting in accordance
ith the true interests of the Profession, aud after
uuch investigation aud outlay, now offers to them
at instrument which fully meets all the above in
dications. The Brace invented by Dr. Bauuing of
N. V., has alone received the approbation ot the
Piofession, or taken rank, as a permanent cotitribu
liifn to Medical Science. While it supports the
Veak back and this up the tihdotiiiual viscera, the
uuiii.-! nigucd, by coiuuiuiug it willi u reevnt iuvcu- j
tion, has added greatly to its efficiency iu erecting
lite body aud expanding the chert, aud these instru
ments are believed to fulfil erirg indication that can
be derived from mechanical support, while acting
incomplete harmony with the forces of nature.
Desirous of introducing these Braces through the
tooperatiou of Physicians, aud being enabled to fur
nish them at Manufacturers prices you are respect
fully referred to the annexed quotations :

ters. 1st. It is cooL 2d. It is light. 3d. Its pads
can all be shifted up and down, right or left, as fre
quently as the necessity of the case may require.
4th. Its great and universal flexibility. 5th. It

are four, and press on the trit hips, and particu
larly on the weak back, supporting, yet not restrain

stimulate and harden the muscles, while soft and
cushioned ones (like poultices) relax and tceaken,
through heat and perspiration, and soon become
raucid. 8th, It is so constituted as to admit of at
taching to it any proper spinal apparatus, and also
the most perfect pile and hernial truses. 9th. It
may combine with its mechanical influences the
virtues of the galvaaic battery, locally or geuerally
applied. .
The Erector Brace and Chest Expander, in addi
tion to the above, makes pressure upon the front
of the shoulders, and without constraint or compres
sion, erects the body, kxpaxs thb chest, and
nrnmotes health, cracc ancT beauty. It is free
from straps, bandages, or compre-ses, acts in har
mony with nature, and defies scientific objection.
For those who have veak backs, sionpea snouuiers,
narrate or flattened chtstt or defectire forms it is
the best invention ever presented to the public.
