under Onto of January 5th, gives this as the sub
stance of tho treaty :
" The United States is to pay 20.00 -I'.ftOO fr

purchase money, i77-' 7000 are to be reserved
to rat- of all claims including the O'aray grant,
Indian spoliations, j rivaic claims, rbc. A board

The Mexican papers generally express them
selves as in favor of the Treaty, and.exj-atiate in
grandiloquent terms upon the wisdom of the
poli-y that has prevented further difficulty with
tho United States. Some of them paint in glow
ing colors, the advantages to be derived from the
purchase money cf a territory now worse than
usele.-'s to their Government, and speake hope
ful! of the day when branches of the great
"Pacific Railroad, which will be built through
the conceded territory will pencil ate to their
capital, and through the great and rich States cf
Guadajara and Guanajuato.
