I'. J 1 3 DEMOCRAT MD SEiNTIXEL: LOCAL ITETflS. TirrROVE5iEKT9. "We paid a visit recently to Rhododendron, and for fear any of our readers should be so ignorant of modern Geography as not to know the location of Rhododendron, w.e Will state that it is where the r.cw Rail Reads eross the turnpike, one mile this side of Suminit ville. Yhile there we took a survey of the new TJotel now being completed by Dr. Jackson. This ivill be a large and comfortable building, and un doubtedly be q:'e a place of resort for hcahh- seeking and pleasure seeking humanity. The Dr., every body knows, is one of the best fel lows in the world, and if any man under the sun . can cure the " ills that flesh is heir to," and keep the blue devils away from a patient, it is he. Sxow Storm. Last Monday morning we had quite a snow stonu on the Mountains. What do you think of that ye tenants of the Valleys ? Bt it is true enough, and winter is here. No one who has heard the blasts of Old Boreas for the past few nights could doubt his presence, and cheerful fires and great coats are lxking up. Well, let him come. He brings his joys as well as liis sorrows, he adorns as well as disrobes The trees he strips of their withered foliage, he bedecks with sparkling gems: the music of the birds and rivulets which he stills, he supplies by the jingling of the merry bells, and the free hear ty gush of childish glee is only transferred from the suiwiy landscape to the well wanned room. Yes, let Lira come, and let winters' festivities dance attendance upon his approaching foot steps. Milttabt Parade. We attended the semi an nual parade of the Cambria Regiment, at the Half-way House, on last Tuesday, and was much pleased with the display made on the The attendance was not very large, butlhc mi noevering was well executed, and the soldiers looked well. Although the military ardor is waning here, yet Cambria is far ahead of her sister counties in this respect. There are at present seven mili tary companies ia this County, unbracing as gootl a body of men and commanded by as gen tlemanly ofliecrs, as ever marched under the J' Star Spangled Banner." Misstatement. We were in error last week in stating that the man who had been injured by falling under the cars at Jefferson, had e'.ied. He is, we are happy to state, entirely out of danger and is fast recovering. Off the Track. The cars have run off the track at or near Jefferson several times lately. Xo one was injured by tbec "run oils," but busi ness has been sciiously uc'nyed. We arc told that the track along there ia very Tnuch out of order. If such is the case it ouht to bo fixed at once. The lives of passengers should not be risked to save a few dollars. QriTu Neat. The new c-ff.cc of Samuel C. Wingard. Esq., is complete 1 and looks very well. We can and do decidedly commend the taste of Mr. Wingard as displayed in this I v.i'.-'ir.j, at; I consider it an ornament lo ci:r tuvr.. Accident. On last Tuesday morning a T r.nk fell on the new township road, upon which the workmen are engaged, at Jefferson, burying one of the laborers some three or four feet, lie was severely cut and bruised about the hiad, but, un der the medical treatment of Dr. Kclh", is fa.st recovcrinfr.
