Pocket-Rook Dropping In New York..
The New York Times relates the following in
cident as having recently occurred in one of the
streets of that city: , V
A Scotchman and auother, from Greene county,
as they went ashore from a steamboat on the
North river side, were met r5y a 'ropper," with
a story, that he had just found, telling the old
Etory, that he must leave tovn, could not stay to
get the reward, &c, offering the pocket book to
them for twenty dollars. The Scotchman wanted
it; the other said, "don't take it." "Yes, I will."
Buid the Scotchman, "and 1 wilLpay the mon in
his own money." And he did so. . .
If strangers in New York will only remember
to "pay the mon in his own money," they will
frud it a perfectly safe operation to purchase
all the ''found" pocket books offered, and
ill Boon put an end to "pocket book drop-Vg."
