Yucatan. A correspondent of the New Orleans Delta, writing from Meiiila. Yucatan, un der date of March 12, says: I avail mvfi-lf of an opportunity vhih uow ofl'ers Vera Cir.z, to send you a brief accoiit o! tne Mat1 oi anairs on """iscr peninsula. You, and your rradrrs Un.j are pested in Mexican maltrrv. :ire aiv.nr that the war : heady so long waged be tween the whiles and ruthless barbarians, -till continues. The line of operations is now established some thirty leagues from this place. Fourteen thousand ucateeo soldiers are guarding the cordon, whilst some twenty thousand Indians, well armed and equipped, are on the opposite side, ready to fight for the "tombs of their fa thers and their household gods." Gen. Micheltereno informed me to-day, that he I'ould see but little prospect for a termina tion U this sublevation, so long as the Knglish continued to furnish the hostile Indians with the munitions ol war. It is i fact beyond dispute, that English mus kets and powder are freely supplied at 15eHzc,'m return for the spoils of churches and whatever other plunder the barbarians nuy oiler. Lotteries ix Kentucky. Governor Helm, of Kentucky, has vetoed the bill passed by the Legislature, conferring upon the corporate authorities of Uascon Col lude the privilege of raising fifty thousand dollars by a lottery scheme. In his mes sage, the Governor acknowledges that previously as a member of the'Legislaturp hr had "voted for a lottery bill, and as Governor had approved one. lie is now how ever convinced that the system is con trary to morality and the ppblic good, and he is not only in favor of witholding such grants for the future, but even of repealing those now in existence. Another Stabbing Case. Another stabbing case occurred at the Basin, in this place, on Monday afternoon last. Some four or five boatmen, a part of whom were intoxicated, went into the Beer house of Messrs. Raucht & liaidt, and a row occurred, in which one of the boat men, named Westbrook, from Hunting don, received a stab in the lower part of the breast and another in the abdomen, which at the time were thought to be mortal; another of the party named Spielman, received a terrible gash on the back of the and, anothe was slightly cut on the wrist, and another had his ear marked all said to be done with a huge straight sword in the hands of Mrs. Kaucht. Dr. Rodrigue was immediately culled, and the wounds of Mr. Westbrook, which proved to be not so serious as was apprehended, were dressed. Mr. Itaidt and wife were boudd over fn the sum of 1000 to appear at the next Court. Hollidaysburg llegister. From Tiltslur?. l'insnruG, April 11. Joe Barker, jhc Ex-Mayor, was convicted yesterday, of riot and misdemeanor, while in office, and was sentenced to five months imprison ment, besides paing a fine of $300. Be fore the Judre sentenced him, Mr. Barker harangued a large crowd from the Court House steps, abusing the judges and law yers without stint. II is friends now promise to make him sheriff. An Honorable Fellow. Miss Harriet W., daughter of the late Prof. Webster, was married at Cambridge, Mass., on the 2d inst., to Mr. S. W. Dabney, of Fayal' the brother of her eldest sister's husband. When her father was convicted of the murder of Dr. Parkman, this young lady, who had for some time been betrothed to Mr. I)., absolved him from his engage merit, which, however, with a manliness which did him honor, he would not ac cept. Theywith Mrs. Webster, arc about making a visit to Fayal. Sknatok Hovston in Baton Kot;t: We learn from the Baton Rouge Advo cate tlj Gen.
