A Sketch. It was midnight the
violent tempest was roused and rarae
sweeping over the land the howling
winds piteotisly whistled through the
mountains the roaring clouds loudly
pealed through the Eahle clouds aboe,
and was reverberated from hill to crap
until it was finally lost in the far distance,
only to he followed by another still more
dreadT'.il. All naittre was cotnulsed ;nd
hsaven and earth seemed ready to embrace.
A bright vivid H-asi of lightning, followed
by a peal of thunder that seeded the. ex
plosion of heaven's vast artillery, li: up
the uniierse with a horrid glare discov

distended, while with uplifted weapon be
stealthily approaches the victim cf his
