Nearly the entire population, roused from their bed by the fearful crash of the rpcka utmost an hour, previous to their fail, had quilted the village, and stood on the plain beyond awaiting the awful ca tastrophe. The night was tolerably light; suddenly ' a tremendous crash was suc ceeded by thick clouds of dust and large 9asse$ of rock were precipitated from the heights apparently upon the village be neath. 99 fearful was the noise that all conclu ded that the village was buried, and on crushing to the spot the inhabitants found a huge wall of rocks piled up at the very extremity of the village. About twenty of the blocks were as large as a small house, and innumerable others were of father less dimensions. It is possible that these tpasses may stand for some time, hut the danger is imminent, as they are iiied immediately' beneath the precipice. Austria. A remarkable document has just been published in Austria, containing a full and circumstantial list of all persons put to geath by the Hungarians, during the late War, either by their Courts Martial or their Mher tribunals, in Hungary and Transyl vania. It is no doubt intended to injure the Hungarians in the eyes of the world. It did not arrive in London soon enough to increase the indignation against Hay nau, as it would probably have done. Gen. Haynau, after lying at Alorley's Tavern twenty -four hours, to recover from his bruises. Bailed for Ostend, and Itis armsl m Germany is already an nounced. Naples. The Prince of Capua ia on the roa 1 to England, for the purpose, it is said, of asking Lord Palmerston to attempt to effect a reconciliation between himself and his brother the King of Naples. Should ny arrangement be come to, the Prince will, it is believed, demand that the legi timacy of his children shall be recognised . t Italy. ' Hon. Seorge Hamilton, British Minis ter at Plownce, died in that city on the 3d inst. Fourteen young men, principally no blemen, have been confined in the citadel of Amoha, for being engaged in a revolu tionary plot, other arrests have also taken place. The Florence paper, Statutide, quotes the following, without vouching for its trnrhr "Itis reported that Lord PjI merston had addressed to the Court of the Vatician a most energetic note, in which he cautions it against violent measures towaids Sardinia." The Board of Health of Venice, by the decree of the 2d, orders that all merchant men coming from a port in whic'i the j cholera prevails shall be subjected to five Jay's quarantine and stationary observa tion. The Statudo, of Florence, of the 3 J insrt., quotes a letter from Naples, stating that four generals and a great number of officers of the army bad dismissed the service. Schleswig Hoist ein. The Holsteiners seem to weary of ly ing inactive within their entrenchments. Col. De Tann at the head of two or three battaIions, has made several attempts to engage the Danes in petty skirmishes which the Danish Generals as invaria bly decline, as not likely to lead to any "results. It appears, ho wever, that on the 9th instant the whole line of posts was engaged, with alternate success to 'both parties of the combatants. The issue of this encounter is not yet known whilst we are writing, but the general impression is, that it will prove as indecisive as the skirmishes of the previous days. Partial ratification of the treaty of peace has been exchangd at Berlin," by which it would appear that seventeen states of Germany have ap proved of the peace. Hesse Cassel and others which .itand out do not seem in clined to assist the Holsteiners with the sinews of war; ' We do not see how the war can be carried on without means; but th courage of tf.ie Holsteiners teems to compensate for the want of all other re sources.
