had an interview -with' the President
Thursday morning at the - 11xeen Live Man- ,
sion. 4 They were accompanied by three
Indian women and by General Walker,
the Commissioner of Indian Affairs, Mr.
D. R. Risley, their -agent, .and others.
Spotted Tailwas iu his shirr sleeves, And .
wore wheavy rod mantle, his hair orna
mented with a feather of the same color.
A largo silver -modal, with the raised
likeness. of Andrew. Johnson, rested on
his breast.

Tail said, through the . interpreter, that
ho was a littlo tired now, but; would have

morrow. The President, replied that
they would not see him tomorrow, as he
was going away, but-they could talk to
the Secretary -of the Interior and Com
missioner of Indian Affairs, who were
authorized to act for irrin.
Ho understood LI& Spotted Tail had
something to say to li?in about the loca
tion of hilll agency, tool mine:led the
interpreter to ray that lied Cloud . Was
permitted to change Ida agency location
because at the former place there was
little or no water in the summer season.
Ito did not want to drive Spelled Tail
away from the present 'location of the

transportation, which would tie expended
for Spotted Tail and his people. 0
