THE BEST.;---TOnies have of late
_j_ years gained rapidly In public estimation and are
far uutin generally, mnloyed by first-clasdpliy l sicittnA
than t boy once were. The, reason for thin is that
It is a. generally.,eatablished fact that wholesome
tonics used in moderation daily for yearn do noc
lose thefr girth°, neither do they injure the sys
tem. They act i.e fact like air and exercise, and
not as "medicines," which are intended solely for
attacks of Illness. Tho limns PIUSCIPLES, especially
those of vegetable origin, all. possess t h e common
property of stimulating the appetite, strength ening
the nervous system, and of imparting strength-.
Women generally derive benefit from them °vett
more than mon, their system being more liable to
debility and exhaustion, We have again and again
in our experience seen the good' effects of tonics
where the eyes had gmern dim and , the cheeks pale,
end — the entire frame showed every indication of
exhanstioo, nerirrnm Stiffering laud,doldlitY.
