102, and at the present rate of gold, they pay,
liberal income on their cost. •

a much higher price than a short one. It Is sato to
assumo that during the next thirty years, the rate
of interest in the United States alit decline as it. has
done in Europa, and wo have a right to -oxpect that
such six per cent. securities as those will be hold at
as high a premium as those of this Government,
which, In 1867, were bought in at from 20 tO 23 per

produce this result, and as the issue of a private
