I have known Ilatiand's Herman Bitters favorably
for a number of years, 1 have used them in my own
:amity, and have been so pleased with their effects,
that I was Induced to recommend them to many oth
ers, and know that they have operated is a strikingly
bouencial manner. I take great pleasure In thus pub
licly proclaiming this tact, and calling the attention
of those afflicted with the diseases for which they are
recommended, to these bitters, knowing from expert
ence that nay recommendation will be sustained. I
do this more cheerfully as lloofiand's Bitters is intend
ed to benefit the afflicted, and is "not a rum drink.'
From W. D. SeigfriPtl, Pastor of Twolfth Bap

Gentlemen :-1 have recently I eon laboring under
the distressing effects of indigestion, accompanied by
a prostration of the nervous system, Numerous rem
edies were recommended by friends, and some of them
tested, but without relief. Your Ileoliancre German
bitters were recommended by persons who had tried
them. and whose favorable mention of these bitters
Induced use to try them. I must confess that I had
all aversion to Patent Medicines from ,the "thousand
and ono" quack •tilitters." whose only aims seems to
be to palm off sweetened and drugged liquor upon the
community in a sly way, and the tendency et which,
I fear, is to make many a confirmed drunkard. Upon
learning that yours was really a medicinal prepara
tion I took it with happy effect. Its action, not only
upon the stt mach, but upon the nervous system, was
prompt and gratifying. I feel that I have derived
great and permanent benefit from the use of a few

Interested in this topic. We aro also aware Of its be
ing a great misfortune, a real calamity; teeny of them
to purchase an interior or worthless Organ, ruinous to
good playing, and often a source of much annoyance
and vexation. We know this article to emanate from
a candid and Intelligent source, and thus we give it to
our readers.
Fevers
The question is often asked, what aro "reed organs?"
We adswer, they are, in most cases, nothing in the
world but the old melodeon in disguise. Many of the
so-called organs have the - same bellows, th o same reeds,
and the same general internal arrangement. With the
bellows turned on edge to gain room, they have simply
put on a more pretentious exterior and a more high
sounding name. But an organ, fo be in reality an or
gan, must have a wind chest or reservoir for Sir sepa
rate from the bellows, into which xvind-chest the reeds
open, and the tone has room to ea and and perfect it
self into the full round tone, simile to the flute or pipe
organ, even, smooth, firm, and mellow ; and this tone
from reeds cannot be obtained in any other way known.
Na thing so annoys a true organist as to have the vol
ume of sound swelling and jerking spasmodically with
every variation of force on the bellows which Is always
the case where the reeds open direct Into the bellows
or air passages, instead of a 'ivind•chest Or sound-box.
And yet some makers even go so far as to claim this
spasmodic or nutomatio jerking of the bellows on the
reeds as an excelleneb, just as though they did not
know that it must very soon throw the reeds out of
tune, and injure the bellows; and as though it were
not an easier matter to obtain a much better and mere
easily managed swell by other methods, Tho truth
is any organ, so called, or melodeon which has the
wind acting directly upon the reeds, is nothing more
nor less than a huge accordeon, dress it up as you may.
And when organists and true muskier. become awale
of the filet that they can obtain those that are organs
in fact as well as in name, they will buy no more of the
objectionable ones. Then again the swell should al
ways be separate and distinct from the bellows,. so as
not to be acted on by the hand, or soft blowing, but
convenient so that the player can use it with the knee,
separate from the hands or feet, and thee always un
der easy control, to be used ad libitum.
The large divided bellows, or double bellows, is also
a very important Improvement. By this means not
only can the wind bo supplied mom evenly, but with
far greater ease to the performer, from the fact that
either bellows alone will be sufficient far the lighter
melodies, thus permitting the player to change about
and rest the foot at will ; then, if the hollows In of
the requisite largo size, and having the wind.chest or
reservoir all will be well. As to the reeds, they must
be scientifically tuned and voiced, or all the othergoocl
iisrellities in the world cannot produce a good toned in
strument. The inquiry now very naturally arises,
whore can the organ be procured combining all these
essential and desirable qualities Y There I- only one

A NOTHER GREAT CURE
IN THE CITY OF NEW YOUR.,
Of a highly respectable citizen, well known

D It. J. 11. SCHENCK,
TILE GREAT LUNG DOCTOR OF PHILADELPHIA.
OFFICE N. Y. AND (Lux:in LEAD Co„
N 0.28 Nassau 5t., New York, June 1, 1h65.
DR J. ii. SCHENCK—Dear Sir (—For over fifteen years
I have been troubled with a severe cough, and usually
two or three times a year with more or lase hemor
rhage, which to.,ether, tor the last few years, has kept
me thin in flesh nod too weak to do business of any
kind without suffering. In August lot I had a very
severe hemorrhage, and, according to the judgment at
a good New York physician, I was classed as beyond
the reach of medicine, and was advised to be prepared
so far as property matters were concerned, to leave this
world tit short notice. The physician (and my good
friends) said that the first cold I took must prove fatal.
Early lu January 1 took a severe cold, and fortunately
was occupying rooms at No. 32 BOND C.TREET, direct
ly over your office. I think about the 16th of January
I procured a bottle of your Pulmonic Syrup and com
menced taking it freely. My feet and limbs were very
much swollen, and all the symptoms of a speedy death
seemed to accompany my cold. I sent for my former
physician, and sta ed lo him that I was taking your
medicines, and atter showing them to him, and having
tasted of them, ho replied ; "You can take them if
you like, they will do you ins harm." Ile said 'You
know what I told you last summer, and I say the came
now, if you have any business to close up, do not put
it off." Ile said to other ft lends that he "cou.d see no
hope fon me," and my friends and relations concluded
ney time had coons, At this tittle I was taking freely
at your medicine, but had not seen you The doctor
called a few times, and found me (much to his sur,
prise, ho said,) improvang'and he could not understand
why. faith was increasing in your medicines, and
I hid a wish to base you exautine toy case, and see
what you had to say. When you first came to my
rotten and made the examination, you gave the but lit
tle 1111COuragement, but an the contrar,), expressed sad
doubts, of my over being helped out of my thou seem
ing difficulties. The second time that you rolled, find
lug me still gaining, you gave me encouragement, say
ing, "my symptoms were improving; the Pulmanic
Syrup, Sea-weed Tonic and Mandrake Pills had
acted like a charm." My circulation, my cough, my
appetite, all began to Improve, and 1 could walk about
my room a little. You visited me nearly every Tues
day, and found me Improving, and told me not to go
out of my room until the first day of May. I tUuti. 110
cold while under your treatment, my appetite became
first-rate, and you told me to eat everything I wished
of a nutritious nature, and to exercise about the room
as touch as possible. I followed your advice, and to
the surpise ul my old physician and friends, 1 soon,
much bettor than'', Mato been fur several years, and
breathe better than I ever expected a person could with
one lung, the left being completely cried up. I feel
very grateful to you, and coincide, your advice and
medicines invaluable,
Yours, truly,
Do. SCIIENCK—Dear bon t two years nga 1 WA
Lake.) with a very troublesome cough and a pain in
my breast; seven or eight months passed away with
out my doing anything for myself. Then 1 applied to
a physician, who attended me for about three mouths
without rendering me any service. I also obtained the
advice and treatment. Ma physician in one ot our bvs-
Otitis, anti also had the advice and treatment of two
other physicians but all to no purpose. During this
long space of time I was nearly dead; several times my
friends canto to see me and witness my exit Into the
epirit-world. I was confined to my bed two mouth,' at
coo time. My breathing was exceedingly short. 1
gave up several times all hope of getting butte, ; and
us regarded getting:well, ithat was entirely out of the
question. And to thiult this day lam well and huartyl
was advised by some ofuty friends to try Dr. Settexca's
ediemes. I accordingly bought bottle after bottle.
untl, I reached the ninth; then I found a decided
change in my cough for the, better. I suffered severe
ly from palpitation of the heart, and two weeks utter
I commenced taking your medicine this difficulty
ceased.
V. howl first went to Dr. Schkrick's slice it was with
di fileu:ty that I could get up into his reception room,
.ens so weak and se swelled ; my skin was as sallow
a • th. soh 1 had tie jaundice ; I telt dull. heavy and
sleepless. Dr. ?chencic, after examini g DIU, said both
my lungs wore affected, and gave me hut little hope ;
but Isle medicines, in about two weeks, took right hold
of me ; It seemed to go right through my whole sys
tem. The Pulmonic Syrup, Sea-Weed Tonle and Man
drake Pills, all took right hold lu the right place. The
Pills brought away ;peat quantities of bile and slime;
the Syrup loosened the matter in my lungs, which
came off very free ; the boa- cod Tonic gave me an al ,
petite, and twerything seemed to taste good.
To show What great power the medicines have in
purifying my system, and to show how bad I was dis
eased, beside ill the bile that passed my bowels, and
the great quantities of phlegm and matter 1 expector
ated, I broke out all over in large boils, that would
continue to gather and run for about six weeks, and I
bad at one time over twenty-flee bole, I have noth
ing of the kind now, and feel like another person al
together. I can safely say that I have not enjoyed
such health for five years es I do now, and cannot
praise you and your medicines enough. May Ned a•
