Patent Metallic Sole.
A NEW INVENTION.
WErr' N THE FEET is the most
prolific cause of disease and death known to
humanity. It is almost sure to bring on a cold; and
colds, neglected, and often when not neglected, lead to
fevers or to coughs and fatal consumptions. It is in
recognition of this truth tisk. , the inventive talent of
the country ha for years been devising some method,
or attempted to dm . nai it, for keeping the feel dry, and
yet that should not give inconvenieneo to the wearer.
Rubber shoes, in ono form or another, !lave hitherto
been our reliance• ' but It well known,as among
their many evils, that while they keep the foot dry
from external moisture, they sweat town over much,
and by thu, inducing an undue tenderness increase a
susceptibility to colds rather than otherwise. 'they
are also cumbersome to the feet, and withal are very
expensive. The demand is for t•ocuothing that shall
make the ordinary Boot and lihoe Impervious to water,
without affecting their elegance or durability, and, if
possible, without adding sensibly to the cost ol their
manufacture. These, it will be conceded, are most Int
porton', features, and we conscientiously affirm that
they are absolutely attained In the inventlen here
with presented to the public
Tuo Invention consists In inserting bet aeon the 1 n
nor and outer sole, when the boot Is making, a thin
.METALLIC PLATE, intent:di:ugly ductile, combining Ilexi•
bliity with toughnds ' very light, and every way apapt
eettrthe end desired, while the additional-expense is
merely nominal. It furnishes a perfect barrier against
the admission of wet or dampness, though the feet may
ho exposed over so long upon wet pavements or damp
ground.
ISA AC LIVINGSTON
To ladies and children the METALLIC SOLES will be of
Inetkillable value, as from their habits of life and del
icacy of dress, they are particularly exposed to the long
train of ills that attend upon an inadequate protection
to the feet.
These Soles have already been tried by the best
of all tests ACTUAL USE, and the testimonials to their
merits, freely proffered, indicate that they must be
speedily and universally adopted by the public. The
Patent Metallic Soled Boots and Shoes are being in
troduced Into the lo ,ding BOot and Shoo Stores through
out the United States, and will supplant all forme of
oversh.ung, except possibly f. r • deep mud or snow, as
they become known.. lid eureka get them and take no
other. If your shoemaker 'does not happen to have
them, ho can procure them without difficulty. If he
will uot, then send yourself to the inventor one dollar
and thirty cents, and obtain six pair, assorted sips,
with right to use, which will he promptly forwarded by
mail or express pre•paid, and which can be made up by.
any shoemaker in the country. Agencies will be es,
tablished in every city and village, and supplied with
Soles and proprietary stamps, at schedule prices, and
liberal a mmissien allowed on sales. Also General
Agencies for States appointed on application, with
proper testimonials to the Inventor.

Blue Mass, and other preparations of Mercury, Sr.
t usi ly produce more suffering and death than the die
es,ses which they Profess to cure. And yet this corro
sire mineral so denounced by the allopathic doctors, is
proscribed by them almost universally in Liver Com
plaint, Consumption of Lungs, Ac.
TUE MANDRAKE PILLS
are composed entirely of roots and herbs, Obtained from
the great storehouse of Nature, and their salutary ef
fects Wit' appear as soon as the medicine is brought to
the test of a fir experiment. SCHENCK'S MAN•
DEAR E PILLS do not produce any nausea or sickness
of the stomach ; but when given for Dyspepsia, it may
be proper to use them in connection with SOIL I. NOE'S
SEAWEED TONIC. By this judicious treatment the
digestive faculties aro speedily restored to their full
vigor, and the worst eases of indigestion may be cured,
When we reflect that the liver is the largest inter
nal organ of the body, that to it is assigned the impor
tant duty of filteringr.._e--i'. a th a bo o
that It Is subject to many disorders, and that when It
is diseased or inactive the whole body suffers sympa
thetically, it Is not surprising that a medicine which
can restore the healthy operations of the Liver should
produce wonderful changes In the general health, and
effect cures whlah may appear to be almost miraculous.
Headache of long continuance, severe pains in the side,
breast and shoulders, aching of the limbs, a fount', of
general weakness and wretchedness, and other alarm
ing and distressing symptoms, Indicative or imperfect
or disordered action of the liver, are speedily removed
by the use 01 SCHENCK'S MANDRAKE PILLS.
Costiveness, plies. bitter or our eructations, and
that indescribable feeling of oppression ' mental anxie
ty, languor; lethargy,' atujolopresslon of spirits 'which
unfit a man for the management of business and the
enjoyment of life, are all relletied by the use of
SCIIENCR'S MANDRAKE PILLS.
Dr. SCITENCL—Dear Sir : I take pleasure in sending
you a certificate in addition to many you have already
received from suffering humanity. I can scarcely find
language sufficiently strong to express my heartfelt
gratification of the wonderful cures your MANDRAKE
PILLS and SEAWEED TONIC have effected in the en
tire cure of one of the most stubborn cases of the affec
tion of the liver. For threeyears I Buffered beyond do-
Scription ; all my friends, as well as myself, came to the
conclusion that my time In this life - wit; short. Such
woo the terrible rendition to which I was reduced that
life to me had become a burthen ; my whole system
was 'in a state of inflammation ; I could not eat, I
could not sleep; my whole body was filled with pain;
swelling would arise in my wrists and ankles, render
ing them totally useless. On several occasions I was
attacked with a rush of blood to the brad which would
fell ma to the ground, and I would be carried away for
dead. I applied to several eminent physicians of our
city, who administered all the medicines that they
thought would reach my case, but of no avail.
. .
One of theni said he boulrl do no more for me, and ad
vised me, Elsa last resort, to drink cod liver oil. Not
relishing thahorrid trash I declined tq take it. : Acci
dent put year advertisement in my hands. I called
on you ; you examined me and told me the nature of
my Mariam You then ordered me the Pills and Tonic
with an observance Of diet, Pledging your word that in
one week I would find myself another man. I follow
ed your advice, and, as you predicted, an astonishing
cure was effected. I continued your Pills and Tonic
for some time, and now thank God for his goodness,
and your valuable medicine, I am once more restored
to put feet health. Inmost earnestly recommend those
who are suffering from affection of the liver to give
your Pills and Tonic a fair trial, and a cure will be ef
fected. I have, sent many persona to you,
and they
have all been cured. Any information my fellow chi•
