me thin in-flesh and too weak to do business of any
kind without suffering. In August last 1 had a very
severe hemorrhage, and, according to the judgment of
a good . Now York physician, 1 was classed as beyond
the reach of medicine, and woo advised to be prepared
so tar as property matters were concerned, to leave this
world at short notice. The physician (and my good
friends) sal I that the first cold I took must prove fatal.
Early in January I took a severe cold, and fortunately
was occupying rooms at No. 32 BOND STREET, direct
ly over your office. I think about the 16th of January
1 procured a bottle of your Pulmonle Syrup and com

much swollen, and all the symptoms of a speedy death
seemed to accompany my cold. 1 sent for my former
physician, and tall 01.1 to DIM Mat, I was taking your
medicine s, and atter showing them to him, and having
tasted of thorn, &c , he replied ; -You can take them if
you like, they will do you no harm." Ile Bald : •'1 ou

why. My talth 11 . 00 increasing in your medicines, arid
I lied a wish to have you examine my case, and see
what you had to say. When you first came to my

out et my room until the first day of May. I tools no

brat-rate, and you told rue to eat everything I wisned
of a nutritious nature, arid to exercise about the room
as much as possible. I tollmied your advice, and t o

PIANO-FORTEL
DRIGGS' NE W PATENT.
ARE the only Instruments constructed
on a truly scientific principle. They have groat
or strength, and will remain longer in Tune than any
other Piano. The construction Is simple and natural
all the extraneous lumber in the body of the: instru
ment is dispensed with; the sound boards are merely
two arched planlcs of thin wood, like the front and
back of a violin ; the strings are attached to a strong
Iron frame, which is separated and entirely independ
ent of the ease, thereby dispensing trim the old harp
form of stringing, by eubstitutin • straight bridges,
preserving at the same time 'be Over Strung Bass, of
which Mr. Briggs is the inventor. By these improve
ments we gain much more vibratory power, at the
same time preset vi,,g all its purity and richness of
tone.
They have received the highest testimonials from the
Press, and all the principal artists In the country,
among which aro :
Harry Sanderson, L. M. Gottschalk,
Max Maretzeic, S. Thalberg,
Theodore blisflold, Win. Mason,
Herman Wollenlaaupt, A. Bariii,
Francis H. Brown, M. Strackosch,
Wm. ilonry Fry, Chas. Fradel.
Mr. SEGESMUND TUALBERG, the great pianist,
says :—I have examined your now Piano-fortes, end I
cordially approve of Its system of construction. Its
principle, by which groat Increase of vibratory power is
obtained, being very simple and perfectly philosophi
cal. The tone Is grand and noble; It has groat capac.
ity for sustaining the sound or singing, and its vol
ume of tone or power I have never heard excelled in
depth, purity, and sympathetic sweetness.
Wm. HENRY BEY, Into musical ethic of the N. Y.
Tribune says :—I have examined your newly Invented
Piano-Fortes. They merit all the praise given to them
by Messrs Thalberg, Gottschalk, Strackosch, Mason
and others. As regards structure, they are original
and philosophical; in purity, volume, and continuity
of tone; in vocal vorsimilitude, that crowning excel.
lenee which enables the pianists to '• sing" on the In
str sumo t, your Pianos I, or deserve the highest rank
Your invention, in any opinion, is destined to work
a radical change in the manufacture of Pianos through,
oat the world.
From the N. V. Herald, Fept. s.—Upon a careful ex
amination of Drlgg's Piano-Forte, we find the results
obtained are a very fine singing tone, great purity and
brilliancy throughout the entire instrument, not often
tonal In Pianos constructed upon the old plan.
The N. V. Times. July 12. says:—We have now an
Instrument without an equal. It can sing with a
smooth delicacy, pertertly unattainable on any other
instrument; an ordinary player obtains with no exer
tion, the fullness of a Orand Plano-Forte, and they
must speedily supersede the old styles.
Oesurtnigst :—linving thoroughly examined and
tested the Plano-Fortes invented and patented by M r
DI begs, I am of the opinion that the lone result
Irom his improvements, as exhibited in the in
• i aments under exan9natir,u, in point of richness
and brilliancy, equals that of the hest (Irand
I Moo Fortes, and excels them in pure, musical inton
ation and actual tone, power thus approximating
closer to what I consider perfection in the instrument
than has yet been achieved by any other system of
mann fact ore

J. W. SMILEY
From Rev, W. D. Seigfried, Pastor .•f T,elfth Bap
tist Church, Phila.
Gentlemen :—I have recently evil laboring under
the distressing effects of indigestion. acconiparded by
a prostration of the nervous' system. Num. rOll5 rem
edies were recommended I,v friends, and some of them
tested, but without relief. Your licotiand's German
hitters were recommended by persons who 111.1 tried
them, and whose favorable mention of these bitters
Induced me to try them. I must confess that I had
an aversion to Patent Medicines tram the • - thousand
and one" quack "Bitters." whose only aims seems to
be to palm off Sweetened and druzged liquor upon the
community in a sly way, and the tendency cf which,
I fear, is to make many a confirmed drunkard. Upon
learning that yours was really a medicinal prepara
tion I took it with happy effect. Its action, not only
upon the strmach, but upon the nervous system, was
prompt and gratifying. I feel that I have derived
great great and permanent benefit from the use of a
few bottles.
From A. M Spengler, Editor of the Cultnrist, No
25 Month Sloth SI rea t.
Some eighteen mouths since I was a severe sufferer
from Dyspepsia. I was not only unable to take plain
food without suffering great distress, but hid tecome
so debilitated as to be almost unfitted for active busi
ness of any kind.
Atter trying a variety of remerlitg:l all of
which pr veld worthless, I 'ti . ls induced, at the sugges
tion of a medical friend, td `
give Hootland's German
Bitters a trial. 1 accordingly purchased six bottles,
which were taken in sscordance with your directions.
The result was complete removal of all distressing
symptoms, after eating or drinking, and a full restora
tion of strength, so that I now eat all ordinary kinds
of food with impunity, and am able to attend to all
the actives duties of a large and arduous bushier,: as
well as at any period of my life, the good effects of the
Bitters were manifested before I had taken the first
bottle.
I have also used it In my family with the happiest
results, and take great pleasure in adding my testi
nony to that of the many others who have been bene
fitted by them. I. find great benefit from the use of a
bottle in the spring and fall. They not only create a
vigorous appetite, but give a health tone to the stom
ach, by strengthening its di_•estive powers.
If the above testimony will be the means of induc
ing any who suffer from dyspepsia to glee '33ur bitters
a trial (wheu it, I feel confident, will give them re
lief) It is at your service. Yours, truly,
From the Rev. E. D. Pendell, Aslisten( Editor Chris
tisio,Chronicie, Phila.
1 have derived decided benefit from the use of Hoof
land's German Bitters, and feel it my privilege to rec
ommend them as a most valuable tonic, to all who are
suffering from general debility or from diva—, arising
from derangement of the liver.
Yours, truly. E. D. FENDALL.
From Rev. D. ilerrige, Pastor of the Passyunk Bap
tist Church, Phila.
From the many respectable recommendations given
given to Dr. lloofland'a German Bitters, I was induced
to give them a trial. Alter using several bottles I
found them to be a good remedy for debility, and a
most excellent tonic for the stomach.
Prom Roc. Wm. Smith, formerly Pastor of the
Vincentown and Ml'lento (N. J.) Baptist Churches,
Phila.
Having used in my family a number of bottles of
your Ifoofland's Berman Bitters. I have to my that I
regard them as an excellent medicine, specially adapt
ed to remove the diseases they are recommended for.
They strengthen and invigorate the system when de
lillitated, and are useful in disorders of the liver, loss
of appetite, &e. I have also recommended them to
several of my friends, who have tried them, and found
them greatly beneficial in the restoration of health
