M. E. CHURCH FESTIVAL
Ma. EDITOR—The Committee of Arrange
ment of the Methodist Episcopal Church of
Carlisle are desirous, through your columns,
of tendering their grateful acknowledgments
to the citizens of town and country for the
very many liberal donations of money, gro
ceries, beof, poultry, flour, cakes, and pro
visions of all kinds, and also for the presence
of so goodly a number of ladies and gentle
men at their Supper and Festival.
The Committee would particularly thank
the ladies and gentlemen whose untiring la
bors contributed so materially to the success
of their enterprize—and also to the Carlisle
Brass Band, whose delightful strains added
much to the festive scene. They desire, also,
to thank the Good Templars for the use of
their lodge on Tuesday evening—and with
them those friends whose kindness enabled
them to spread so munificent a table—also
to the proprietor of the hall for the many
accommodations tendered them. Tho Com-
Mitteo would also express their obligations
to the editors of the Herald and fru/mac/2r
for the notice so kindly given of their Supper
and Festival.
Truly our lines have fallen in pleasant
places, and tho church (that old "Ship of
Zion,'') which has long been among the
breakers, we trust will soon co able, through
the liberality of a Christian community, to
anchor in safety.
May the blessing that came to the house
of Obed-cdom rest with the Church at large,
and on all who responded so promptly to our
call for present help, and as our indebtedness
is yet large, we trust the same spirit of kind
ness will still continue to be extended to us,
until our blessed Church be relievCd from
all pecuniary embarrassments.

REMOVE YOUR EAD BREATH?
A foul breath is one of the most unpleasant thsngs a
Man or woman ran he afflicted with. It makes your
friend turn away his head from you when you speak
closely to him. It makes the lady who would oth cr
wise love you wonder why you do not get rid of a de
feet so offensive. For you can easily drive it away in,
at least. nine rases out of ten. Radway's Regulating
Pills we have known to render a breath sweet in a short
time, which, ter years, was next to unendurable. Some
times a bad breath arises from decayed teeth, and some
times from the foul condition of the gums. A tooth
brush and soap, a little magnesia, a bit of alum. quick
ly remove the cause in each cases, and with it the tail.
But in a majority of instances a fetid broath Is occa
stoned by a disordered stomach. and that will only yield
to a suitable use of Railway's Regulating Pills. The.
judicious use of these pills renders all the secretions
healthy, and gives such tone and vigor to the stomach
that, even if the teeth are decayed, the aroma from
them becomes. imperceptible. The odor of good health,.
so to speak, neutralizes the odor of dissolution, and the
slightest application Ili magnesia now and then to re
move the tartar front the teeth, leaves the mouth in
an enviable stale of purity. No young lady need fear
the effect of a kiss stolen from hoc lips by a fastidious
loser, If Itadwars Regulating Pills have been her-reli
ance for the purification of her health. She will Basel
nate;not shock his good taste, For what Is more fas
cinating than a breath redolent of Arabia's roses?"
Yet Itadway's Regulating Pills aro only 25 cents a box.
N. 13.—Dr. Itadwayis Pills aro elegantly coated with
gum, and free from taste or smell. 'they are tile only
vegetable substitute for calomel or mercury known.
They purge thoroughly, without producing cramps,
pains. nausea, or vomiting. If used when afflicted with
Liver Complaint, Dyspepsia, Costiveness, Constipation,
Indigestion, Biliousness, Jaundice, a cure will follow.

magnificent scale upoia Which the War bits boon con.

Mr. Headley, of all writers, is perhaps best qualified
to portray the stupendous features of the mighty con.

have placed him in the first, position, as a graphic and
powe ful delineator of war scenes and characters, and
the magnitude and grandeur of .the present subject,
impart to his pen the lies and vigor of a yet more ox.
sited inspiration, and, furnish ample seeps for the high•

of the War pass in review with the vividness and' die
tinctitess of a present and living reality ; while his
great talent - for condensation epables hint to embody
everything of importance in a conmase Just suited to
the public want. From no other source can so clear
