PIANO-FORTES.
DRIGGS' NEW PATENT.
ARE the only Instruments constructed
on a truly scientific principle. They have grext
er strength, and wil remain longerln I une than any
other Piano. The construction Is simple and natural
all the extraneous lumber In the body of the Instru
ment in dispensed with; the sound boards are mere'y
two arched planks of thin wood, like the front and
back of a violin ; the strings a , e attached to a strong
Iron frame, which Is separated and entirely independ
not of he case, thereby dispensing with the old harp
form of stringing, by substituting straight bridges,
preserving at the sense time the Over Strung Bass, f
which Mr. Briggs is the Inventor. By these Improve
ments ive gain much more vibratory power,, at the

tone.
They have received the highest testimonials from the
Prose, and all the principal artists in the country,
among which are:
Harry. Sanderson, L. M. Gottschalk,
Max Marotzok, S. Thalherg,
Theodore Eisfield, Wm. Mason,
Herman Wollenhaupt, A. Bahl
Francis H. Brown, hi. Strackosch,
Wm. Henry Fry, Chas. Fradel.
Mr. SEGESMUND TIIALBERG, the great pianist,
says :—I have examined your now Piano-fortes, end I
cordially approve of its system of construction. Its
principle, by which great increase of vibratory power is
obtained, being very simple and perfectly philosophi
cal. The tone is grand and noble; it has great capac
ity for sustaining the sound or singing, and its vol
ume of tune or power I have never heard excelled in
depth, purity, and Sympathetic sweetness.
Wm. HENRY FRY, late musical critic of the N. Y.
Tribune says have examined your newly invented
Piano-Fortes. They merit all the praise given to them
by Messrs Thalberg, Gottschalk, Strackosch, Mason
and others. As regards structure, they are original
and philosophical; in purity, volume, and continuity
of tons; In vocal versimilltude r that crowning excel.
lance which enables the pianists to " slug" on the in
strument, your Pianos ever deserve the highest rank
Your invention, in my opinion, is destined to work
a radical change in the manufacture of Planoa through.
ont the world.
From the N. Y. Herald, Fent. 6.—Upon a careful ox.
aminalion of Driget's Piano-Forte, we find the resulte
obtained are n very fine singing tone, great purity and
brilliancy throughout the entire Instrument, not often
found in Pianos co vstructed upon the old plan.
The .N. V. Times, July 12. says:—Wq have now an
inetroment without an equal. It ran sing with
smooth delicacy, periectly of on any other
instrument; an ordinary player obtains with no exer.
tion, tee fullness of a Grand Plano-Forte, and they
must speedily. supersede the old Myles.
ENTLEMEN :—.llavlng thoroughly examined and
tested the Piano-Fortes iovouted and patented by Mr
- .8. DI iggs, I am of the opinion that the tone result
f from his improvements, an exhibited in the In
I aments under examination, in point of richness
pal and brilliancy, equals (bat of the best Grand
t iano Fortes, and excels them in pure, musical inton
ation and actual tone, power thus approximating
closer to whal I considm perfection in the instrument
than bas yet been achieved by any other system of
minn facture.
