PIANO-FORTES.
DRICGS' NE W PATENT.
ARE the only Instruments constructed
on a truly scientific principle. They have gre .t
er strum:J.6. and wil remain longer in • uno thee any
other Piano. The construction is simple and natural
all the extraneous lumber in the body of the instru
ment is dispensed with; the sound boards are merely
two arched planks of thin wood, like the front and
hack of a violin ; the strings we attached to a strong
Iron frame, which in sepatated and entirely independ
wnt of rhe case, thereby , dispensing with the old harp
form of stringing, by substituting straight bridges,
preserving at the 811M0 time rho Over Strung Bass, of
which Mr, Briggs is the inventor. By these improve
ments we gain much more vibratory pow or. at the
same time preserving all its purity and richness of
tone.
They have received the highest testimonials from the
Pres, end all the principal artists in the country
among which
Ilarry Sanderson,
Max Maretzek,
Theodore Ehlleld,
Herman Wo'lenhaupt,
Francis H.Brown,
Wm. Henry Fry,
Mr. SEGESIi UND Tit ALBERO, the great pianist,
says:-1 have exnutined your new Piano-fortes, end
cordially approve of its system of construction. Itg
principle, by which grout increase of vibratory power is
obtained, being very simple and perfectly ph losophi
cal. 'rho lone is grand and noble; it has great eapae
ity for sustaining the sound ur singing, and its vol
ume of tune or power I have never tumid excelled in
depth, purity, and sympathetic sweetites , .
m. LIENItY Via, late musical critic of the N. Y.
Tribune says i-1 have exantioed your newly Invented
Piano-Fortes. They merit all the praise given to them
by Messrs' Thalberg, Uottschalk, Strackosch, Mason
and others. As regards stt urture, they are original
And phliost.phical; in purity, volume, and continuity
of tone; In YPeal.vorshailAudo, that crowning

strument, your Pianos ever deserve the highest rank
Your invention, in my opinion, is destined 'o work
a radical change in the manufacture ut Pianos through.
ont the world.
From the N. Y herald, :opt. s.—Upon a careful ex
amination of Pitmen Plano-Forte, we Ond the °suits
obtained aro a very tine singing tone, great purity and
brilliancy throughout the entire instrument, not ofreu
found in Pianos constructed upon the old plan.
The N. Y. Times, July 12 says:—Vie have now an
Instrument Nvitilont an equal. It can sing with a
smooth delicacy, perfectly unattainable on any other
Instrument: an ordinary player obtains with no exer
tion, t 1.03 fullness of a Grand Piano-Forte, and they
must speedily supersede the old styles.
GENTLENEN thoroughly examined and
tested the Piano-Fortes invested and patented by,
8.13. Driggs, I stool the opinion that the tone result
ing from his Improvements, as exhibited la the in
strurnentenbder examination, In point of richness,
depth and brilliancy, equals that of the best Grand
Piano Fortes, and excels them in pure, musical Inton
ation and •hrtual tons, power t.hus approxiiinting
closer to what I consider perfection In the Instrulfient
than has yet boon achidved by any other system of
matinfacturu.
