In Monmouth, Illinois, on the night of the 23d of November, 1801, of Typhoid Fever, MAKY KELLER, aged 7 years and 10 months, youngest daughtor of W A and S. J. B. Puffer, and grand daughter of John Puffer Sr., of Dickinson two. Cs.anik GRIFFIN of this place, died Jan. 15th, 1866. For about six months, before hordeath, she was confined to her room, dur ing which time she bore her intense suffer ings with remarkable patience. She was constitutionally of a timid and retiring na ture and this peculiarity operated to some extent against her in seeking in an open manner, for the pardon of her sins and mak inga profession of his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. But though not a member of the Christian Church until a short time prior to to her death, yet she devoted her time and energies in the work of promoting the inter est of religion. This was manifested in the deep interest that she took in the Sabbath School and especially in the class of which Om was the Teacher. In accordance with her own request, her narim remained on the list and was called regularly with the others every Sabbath morning. She was brought - up religiously-and - instructed by-her-parents in the doctrine, exprience and practice of the christian religion ; and God owned and blest their labors in her happy conversion to the truth. Some time before her death, she was conscious that it was the will of God to,remove her from this world and that she needed "peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." And God and Heavenly "FatliiK - 1 n --- His-great-merey throughJ,esus 'Christ, gave to her the desire of leer-hart. She soon received the „sweet and.blessed as surance of . pardon, accompanied by a bright and satisfactory, .evidence of her acceptance with God. . It was then that her whole soul was filled with the love of God; and under the intim : ences of the Divine spirit, the visions Of a future and blissful immortality were opened her eager and enraptured sight. -And seldom has the writer of this, wit inissed a more remarkable display of the Divine Goodness, In the conversion of a true penitent upon the Zed of sickness. She was too weak to giiki utterance to the emotions of love and gratitude to that God who had done so great things for her. But she thank ed her parents for all their care and kind ness to her and told them that she was going home. At last the hour of hor departure came and found her waiting patiently for her change and when it came her happy spirit went sweetly to the God who gave it. CARLISLE PRODUCE MARKET.
