oupoil Notes, payable three years from August 15th,
1864[with semi-annual interest at the rate of Reran

interest both to be paid in lawful money.
These notes will be convertible at the option of the
holder at maturity, Into six per cent. gold hearing
bonde, payable not less than tire nor more than the en
ty years from their date, as the tiovern men t may elect.
They will he Issued in denominations of VA $lOO,
$5OO, 81,000 and 85,000, and all subscriptions must t
for'fifty dollars or some multiple of fifty dollars.
The notes will b^ transmitted to the owners free of
tranaportalion charges as soon atter the receipt of the
original Certilicatesof Deposit as they can he prepared.

contamination is variously caned bt mercurial
disease, hot- living, disordered digestion front
unhealthy food, impure air, filth and filthy
habits, the. depressing vices, and, 11110Ve all, by
the venereal ittfeetion. Whatever be its origin,
it is hen•ditary in the constitution, descending
"from parents to children unto the third and
fourth generation ; " indeed, it seems to Ire the
rod of flint who sties, " I will visit the iniqui
ties of the fullers upon their children." "l lie
diseases which it originates take various names,
according to the organs it attacks. In the
lungs, Scrofula produces tubercles, and finally

stomach and bowels, derangements tt hich pro

plaints; on the skin, eruptive Ewa cutaneous
