who have made all these nice things; so they
had the first of the ginger nuts. Then I made
their beds look very home-like, by putting
upon each, one of your pretty spreads, and
clean pillow eases. The boys laughed all
over their faces, to think they were of so
much account, and the sick enjoyed it with
them.
Then come the Jews harps,—to their great
delight, and we soon had music all around
that ward, Tho finishing up for the boys
was //pretty handkerchief with Bay-ruin tin
enough pleasure for one day, they bald, and

We have received,—principally from the
Eastern States, great numbers of what they
call "comfort-bags:" they arc only little bags
made of calico or other material, and tilled
with till kinds of useful things for the sol
diers ; such as a annuli needle-book with a
half dozen needles in it, pincushion, buttons,
thread, handkerchief, small piece of nice
soap, fine comb, one or two sheets of paper
with two or three envelopes. In 801110
