Bist op Potter, and the clergymen conrposing-the South-dentral.Con , vocation of the Diocese of Pennsylvania, will meet for public services in St. John's Church, Carlisle,'on Tuesday next, (12th inst.) at 7 o'clock A. M. Also on Wednes day and Thursday at 11 o'clock A. M. and at 7 o'clock P. M. On one of these occa sions the apostolic rite of confirmation will be administered. The public are invited to attend. ANNIVERSARY.—On Tuesday,,the 212 d ult., the Belles Lettres Society of Dickinson College, held their anniversary in Rhedm's Hall. The programmes were well arranged and displayed good taste on the part of the committee of arrangements. The speakers also deserve great credit for their selection of subjects, and the able manner in which they treated them. The exercises were much enhanced by the splendid music from the U. S. THE LADIES FAIR.—Tho fair or the ladies' Aid Society held during the holidays was, we are glad to say a perfect success.— The net profits will not fall far short of Eight flundred Dollars. This handsome sum will be religiously devoted to the alleviation of all the suffering and di , tiess of Cumber land County soldiers and soldiers' familier: Too much credit cannot be awarded to th:se ladies and gentlemen, who besides giving of their means contributed their unremitting labors to render the fair at once pleasant and profitable. The cause in which such hearts and hands are enlisted connotolaiL re,Our thanks are due to Gen. JAMES N. ALLEN, for a most valuable present. The gift is a cane cut from the main mast of the U. S. frigate Cumberland. The Cumberland, it will be remembered, participated in the fight with the rebel rani Merrimac. off Fort ress Monroe, and after being perforated with calla from the latter, went down with her colors gloriously flying, from her nut,t held. We prize the cane, both fur the htlii4,Wo•l 1: Sociations connected with the noble trlrip of which it formed a part, and for the co.u•tei+y and hin(ll,y remembrance of the gallant donor. FOUND DEAD.—Mr. JACOB WOLF, a highly respectable citizen of this place, was found dead in his rooto, on Saturday evening last. Mr. WOLF boarded at Sttnetzvans' ho tel but lodged in his own house about half a square off. Ile was not at supper on Fri day evening, nor at breakfast or dinner on Saturday, and in lb ) evening Mr. SHREINER sent a boy t) his lodgings to ascertain the cause of his absence. On attempting to open the door of his room the boy discovered the body of Mr. Wets laying on the floor, so close to the door 'that it could not'be opened, when an entrance was effected through the window, and the body found to be rigid. From all the circumstances it is evident he died the previous evening and had been dead perhaps twenty•four hours before ho was found. Cor ner Stltru held an inquest, and a post mot.- tern examination by Dr. KIEFFER. disclosed the IV* that ho died of apoplexy. Mr. Wove wee about Oft years of ago. —Democrat.
