'EMORY FEMALE OOLLEOE.—This In stitution of learning was inaugurated on the 3d-inst., under circumstances of an interest lifgfcharacter. A number of - the Patrons o the Institution were present with their daugh ters. Dr. Johnson, President of Dickinson 'College, read a portion of the Holy Scrip tures, and addressed the Throne of Grace, invoicing the Divine blessing upon the enter prise. He was followed by Rev. Mr Chen. •eWeth, Presiding Elder . of Juniata District, and Rev:- Mr. Ross, Post Chaph. in of Carlisle Barracks, in appropriate addresses. At the close of the addresses, Prof. Chambers an 'nounced his object in entering upon this educational enterprise, after which the classes were organized, and recitations assigned the students. We learn that the college is daily adding to its numbers. In this connection, We would say, that arrangements have been made for the accommodation of students from abroad. Already stane have come from a 'distance. All the gentlemen, named above, as taking part in the opening exercises, are patrons of the college. An interesting fea ture of the inauguration, was the presenta tion of a number of books, as the nucleus of a.college library, by Dr. Johnson, his lady, and daughter, and by Rev. Wm. Chenoweth arid lady. GiRARD h OUSE, PII IT/MAI:Ell lA. For cleanliness and good fare, we can safe• ly recommend the GIRARD HOUSE, of Phila delphia, as being unsurpassed by any house In the country.
