Wesley Miles. of IVm. Brecht a very
respectable colored man of this place. From
the evidence adduced it appeared that at the
time the rebels came to Carlisle, Brocht shut
up his house and left, going to Harrisburg,
when he returned on'"the 6111 of July at 10
o'clock P. M , he found defendant in it, and
articles were missed from the house On
the other side it was contended that the reb
els had taken possession of the premises, and
that a number of citizens suggested that as
Broolit was an industrious man, his property
should be protedted. Miles was placed in it
for that purpose. When Brecht returned he
manifested a willingness to. and did deliver
peaceable possession. offering,
