night, the cars, filled to overfiowing with the
hardy militia, passed through the streets, and
were greeted with loud plaudits from the mon
and the waving of handkerchiefs by the ladies.
We wish them success in their mission, and a
speedy return to their homes.
A WEIBELBARnoW RIDE.—On Mon
day last, Constable FAGAN captured a gentle•
tlerann so overcome with rum and patriotism,
t hat he was unable to walk. Ile was placed
in a wheelbarrow, and, during Isis rido dawn
street, he was addressing an imaginary nu
dienco in a melt patriotic strain, waving his
bands like an insane
REBEL PR SON/MS.—On Monday night
last, 'a number of rebel pri-toners passed
through this place on their way to Fort Del
aware, escorted by Capt. ColtsMAN'S com
pany. They were a rough looking party,
dirty and ragged, and some of them without
aboes.

lint, bandages, &c., was lately brought to
town by Mr. Iluas•r. of Dillsburg, which had
been prepared by the patriotic ladies of that
place,- and which will be sent where most
needed. This has been, indeed, a work of
love and patrioti in, peculiarly appropriate
and acceptable, and for it the ladies will be
rewarded in the sweet consciousness of hay
ing contributed to alleviate the sufferings of
our brave and desert ing soldiers, wounded
in the defence of our blood bought heritage

in the shape of a knock down, on Monday
afternoon. The wool flew and a considera
ble amount of the best Virginia blood was

killed or die by disease during the term of

THE ANDERS()N THOOP.—in our issue
of last week we made mention of the bad
conduct of somC members of the Anderson
Troop. It is hard to gather together such a
large body of inert without having sonic bad
ones among them , anti we are happy to say
that every effort has been made to wted Out
the black sheep. We wee called on by
sonic orthemieifibers and reqnQed to state
to the citizens of the town, that it is their
desire that any member misbehaving should
be reported to the commanding officer. They
are determined to maintain the high charse
ter which the troop has borne hcretororc,
and request the assistance of all good eiti
zens in so doing. An order has been issued
compelling every member to remain in camp
after nine o'clock P. 1I , unless absent on
special duty. It is unjust that the innocent
should suffer with the guilty and we hope
our frieas will assist them in finding out
the evil doers. Our article last week was
written with no intention of injuring the re-
putation of the troop, but merely as a warn
ing, to those in command as to what would
be the result should that i.tate of affairs con.
tinue We wish them all possible success,
and are very sorry that s of them have
misunderstood our meaning.
