witnessed the affray, that Morri,ey got the
worst of it, Quin having bitten hint severely in

Curoner McClellan held an inquest -on the

•The members of this highly useful Associa
tion, held their filth annual meeting at New
yille. We deferred n notice of the meeting at
the time, as we expected to publish their pro-
ceedings entire, in compliance with the usual
e resolutioits on that subject, but we find thein
to voluminous for our columns. The institute
met on the 28th of Dee and continued until
the 13 Ist. On Thursday the lion. Thomas U.
._Burrowes of Lancaster, delivered an appropri-
ate address before the wet!
The exercises were interesting throughout,
and the meetings were well attetided by the
citizens of Newville as well as many from a
diq Ince
The following resolutions '(among others)
were passed' it the close of the meeting, which
we copy from the Valley Star.
Resolved, That while we consider Cumber
land County as occupying the front rank in
the educational march of eounties in the State
we do not lllCall to rest sasistied with what we
have already done, but to bend all our ener
gies to the work of improvement, striving
earnestly and untiringly on to perfection.
Revd ved; That the thanks of this ,Institute
