have rethaihed unexplored and unknown
—no regular intercourse - would have been
mantained between the various tribes, of

never have been transmitted to the great

the extent, and the vast vanity of august
objects the earth contains, make geogra-,
phy a science of peculiiir interest in .T
moral and religious point of view. But
particularly the salvation of God, which
christianity unfolds, which is destined to
' be proclaimed- in every land must receive
mucheid TOr - its aocomplishinent frmo
the science of Geography.

be lessons of morality and piety" given to
the youth and children of our literary
. institutions. This science-has for its
- object the investigation and description
of the interval structure of the Globe.
It is true; 'man's - knowledge in this science
;As but shallow, and very 'imperfect; from
the fact, that the-vast quantity of matter
contained wjihin• the internal structure
- of the . eartliiims boom' penetrated but to
. : a very limited extent; yet, the observa
tions which have been made during the
--last-half- obli tury, - and--thsLdeductimit
drawn therefrom are-highlyinteresting
both to the philostpher,•and to the Christ
ian. Previous to these last. discoveries,
_a-variety of objections were. filed against
thp Mosaic history of creation, which we
think, have been much diminished, since
it has been'perceived that there exists •a
' . beautiful harmony • between the records
of Revelation, and the operations of the
Creator in' the' material universe.' In
- • this scienoe, --- therefore, the teacher can
have occasional reference to the Supreme
Maker of all,•and the reverence due film'
