- - The following - singular article is from
the Indianna Farmer,- -and we shall be
glad to know itthe editors of that paper .

United States - Agricultural Society, at
Washington,-we-saw some feats-performed
- by _a. horse-trainer. He used a small
drum; kept continually beating, and the
wildest, and most unmanageable gorse
- that could be found would : fellow iiin

head, Which. we supposed to be at the

ceipt.-Many accounts have been given
in English, journals of what are called
the Horse .Whisperers,' that are to be
found'at English andirish fairs;pretend
log to, whisper in the 'ears of horses, after
which the most intractable . are .- readily
martaged by themselves amtothers,

and generally on the hind legs... It half

of subduing 'influence over them.' .

You can teach him anything, only be

night always give him a good bed, at least
a foot deep.
In the winter season, do not let your
• horse stand out a long time in the cold
without shelter or covering; for remember
that the horse is an aboriginal native of
a warm climate, and in many respects

the year when all who wish to live com

up their ice; and as - there are hut few

ice-houses for storing that valuable com
modity in our city, ww,herewith publish
a plan - for - the erection of such a building.
The building eon be erected at but a
trifling cost, and if properly filled, will
contain enough he to last .a family through
__a _whole_ summer. _Besides_the_comforts_
which it will entail upon the lucky poss
essor, when' , Old Sol' showers down his
fiercest rays, will
.amply repay him for
the trifling outlay. IV° advise all our
citizens who can, to erect such a building
upon their farms, and promptly fill Them
with good ice, and then they need not
fear" Old Sol's' hottest rays during`the
coning summer
"Any person in - the 'country; where
timber is cheap, can erect an ice:house
at but little expense. All that is required
is to pia a strong frame of the size of the.
horse required, and board it up close,
inside and outside, with a space between
all round: This space is stuffed close with
straw or drysay-doist: The roof is made
in 'the, same manner, gn,d the houtm is
then Complete. - Strawlffit saw dust are
• 'cheap,_ . and . good non-conductors. The
house should be situated on a dry spot,
and ebonld have a drain under the floor.
It should also, be convenient, to be filled
