DEAR HERALD :—Viewed financially,
this is certainly a " blue Nonday". and
. in fact blue may. be said 'to have been
-the prevailing color of the monetary ho,

in comparison with the month preceding ;

are extensively circulated, and signed by
all clas4es. Meetings 'to promote this

The heaviest and the . most to be re

is that of Messrs. David S. Brown iC Co.
This firm suspended on Prid;37. "The
tfisastreult consequences of the eveht can
lOrdly be estimated. In case the(should
not be able to make such. arrangements
as will enable them to continue, hundreds
of operatkes, now in• their employ, must
neccssarilybe deprived of the' means of
subsistence. I am unable torptatedefi

understand they , will reach $1,800,000.
Many other suspensions have occurred.

On Saturday rumors were flying in
every direction to the effect that a sus
: pension was about to take place which
would astonish the city. An
.event of
• that description, which would at this time
create astonishment, must indeed be one .
of great magnitude. The house referred,

one in .Philadelphia; their paper , has
heretofore regulated the market, and their
suspension would undoubtedly "cap the
climax" of our financial difficulties. 'CI

not generally credited, and I sincerely

entirely Unfounded. . . ,
