E: R. ti (Fal3 . orottli . e 2d ihiptist Chu tcli,Nesv Ct.,) relative to Alyera' Extract Rose To The American Public. As my namelins been . used in connection with recommendations or Mr.. Myers' Rock Bose Syrup, in various advertiscmonts"by the matinfacturcr i -I bog leave tu,rnake the follow in"g statement with reference to my acquaint. once with the remedy and tests to which I have subjected it, and the reasons for havirig intro duced it to the notice of private friends in the cormiiiinity in which I reside, long before the medicine was advertised. I make this state-- Mont freely, because 1 have, as n principle, withheld my name front all-patent medicines, and Sedulously abstained from recommending them to the public, believing them, frequently the , spawn_ of, quackery and ymbug, and_ as landing to increase, instead of lessening human disease and suffering. Such, I tear, is the character, of a large portion of the patent pana ceas of this medicine-making age. "Their name is legion,"-and from their influence. sa from the demoniacal spirits, we have reason to pray for a safe deliverance. The First had myself suff.trod oc. cnsionally, with sudden attacks of Sick Head ache, and Billions Diarrhea, and 1 had sought it great variety of curative agents to but little purpose ; and suffering front this disease (dinr • rhea) at this time,•l determined to test the new Syrup first upon myself. The're'Sults were bc• 'yond my expectations. It seas powerful alterative,-end the 'inarbi‘!actiOn of the system was changed, and the functions of secretion were restored to a healthy state. It gave tone 'and elasticity to my cystem, and corrected the derangement of the digestive organs, and gave me that inestimable ,blessing—health. This test was not determin'ed in a week, et a month; but I took four. or five battles in perhaps no •many months. Since that time I have suffer ed but slightly from these derangements. .11/y Sick Headache is en'irely Cured. Giber Tests.—Finding this inedicino so Un felt,' myself, 1 at once gave it to several inva lid friends. About this time, I was earne - stly solicited to give advice in reference to child, some eight years of age. 'Phis child wits severely.lifllieted with a Scrofula humor, of a very •severe type, the humor shinving itself on all parts of the surface, and then suddenly dis appearing. The child was very_sielt, and it Was thought doubtful whether " h ire would live, 'rite humor resembled black - specks of mortified flesh. In adtinion-Cui some other. remedies, 1 gave tie Old this Syrn, for about 'six weeks, wharLstriihad sufficient etrength to go out to enlidul occasionally. Tire swellin g of mbs ceased, and she was restored to health. The family feel that they owe hoe life; with God's blessing, to my remedies. This test satiSficd ine , lhat, the Rock Rcie possessed specific powers fur Scruful `ll9 hu mors. I then tested it in eases of Cutaneous Eruptions, in Measles, Chicken Pox, Cancer, Sure Mouth; Erysipelas, Silt Rheum, Piles, tee. bz all 'bees cases with . perfect success. :After testing this Syrup for more than a year, I note Mr. Myers (October 7th, 1850) enthusi• saliently, not , expecting My letter would he puldished, that his Syrup• spas a Paoltorite," &thrilling, and I gave hint tiro result of its operafitins in several instances. I steed in that letter that "it was invaluable as a J'emedy in Cutaneous Eruptions, Erysipelas, Sidi,. Rheum. and ether disorders, included in the varied fiupily of. diseases known BE Scrofula, that in DyspBpsia' it acted with wonder ful efficacy." My opinion of its value for Did above named diseases, remain unchanged, and the seine as when I Wrote Mr Myers in Oct. 1850. IdU not recommend it fur all the ills of our suffering hurnanitx; but 1 unhesitating ly soy, that as a remedy fur Scrofulous uffec tions, I believe it superior . to any icno'wn curs tine agent. _ It his been sufficiently tcst' by domestic practice to establish its atlantic% to extensive usefulness in mitigating human suffering 'and retnm ing di 4CLISCS• But What is the Reek Ross ? Tho following history of tic Ruck Rose plant and its medicinal properties, we lake from the New Haven Palladium, March 1.852. The increased- interest manifested in the 'Rock Rose plant, in consequence of the many' wonderful cares elreeted by Myers' Compound Extract of Ruck Rose,' calls for a brief history of it, in order to correct uny_strohernisnpin ion that may have been entertained concern ing it ; and also to set in a true light the na ture of a 'dant which promises to be univer sally.beue fiend. "We are indebted to the United States Dis pensatory of ISi 7, for the fullowing.,deserip. lion or rt : " It is entirely ilillerent front the common •Rose. It is a red•steintmd, oblong leaf plant, haVing a bitter taste. In addition to remark able, peculiarity of the plum, of hearing two crops of flowers in ono season, it also has ano ther interesting and bountiful property. Jr. Eaton says, that in the months of No: vember and December, ho has' seen hundreds of these plants, sending out near their coats, broad, thin, curved ice-crystals, about an inch in breadth: which melted during the day, and were renewed in the morning..
