peared in a new form. It is now nearly
double its former size, and is printed in
quarto form. and in the style of the lead•
•-.111 London journals. Mr.k..Preely in
announcing the changes givtlW,a history
of the Tribune, showing what ibilustry,
talent, energy and determination may ac
complish, Nine years ago, almost with
, out capital, and' with the slender promi
ses of a few political friends, he corn
meused his enterprlze. He says—"We
printed five thousand copies of our first'
number and found some difficulty in giv
ing them away ; but before the year ex
pired we had a steady daily sale for more
than ten thousand copies." The present
issue of the Tribune is 15,360 of the dai
ly edition; 1,680 of the semi-weekly,
39,720 of the weekly, besides a
large and Increasing edition printed for
circulation in Europe and California.—
Hefurther states.that the amount of sub
scription money Will but little more than
pay for the paper on which the T'ibune
is printed. The semi-weekly edition Will
also be enlarged to correspond with the
daily. The Tribune is undoubtedly one .
of the best papers in the country. Its
readers may not agree with every opin
ion held by the Editor, but few can at-the
name time- fail to be impressed with the
ability which distinguishes its Editorial
