DECLARATION of 'INDEPENDENCE.
IN'CONORESS, JULY4TII, 1776.
WHEN, in' the course of human events,
it becomes necessary for one people to
dissolve toe political bands which have
connected them with another, and to a's
sume among the powers of the earth, the
seperate mid equal station to which the
laws of nature and of nature's 'Gen en
titles, them, ft descent respect to the opin
ions,of mankind requires that they should
declare the causes which impel them to
the separation.
We hold these truths to be self-evi
dent—that all men are created equal;
that they are endowed by their CREATOR
with certain unalienable rights; thin
among. these are life, liberty, and the
pursuit of happiness. 'That• to secure
these rights, governinents, are instituted
among men, "deriving their -just powers
from the consent of the governed i - that
whenever any form -of government: be
_coMes.destructive of these ends, it is the
right of the people to alter or to abolish
it, and to institute new government, lay
ing its foundation on. such principles,
and organizing its powers in such form
as to them shall seem most likely to effect
their safety and happiness. Prudence,
indeed, Vvill dictate, that governments
ling established, should not be changed
for lightand transient causes ; and, ac
cordingly;all experience , has shown that.
. mankind - are - male:- diSpo - ged - to suffer,
. while evils are sufferable, than to right
themselves. by abolishing the formsto
which they are accustomed. But when
a long train of abuses and usurpations;
pursuing InVariably the same object,
evinces'a design to reduce . them . under
. absolute despotism, it is.their right, it is
.•11..4 duty, to throw off such government,
find to provide new•guards for their fu
• tare security. Such has been the pa
tient sufferance' of these colonies; and

of repeated injuries and uss ations, all
having 'in direct object the establishment
' of an absolute tyranny over these states.
To prove this, let facts be submitted to a

ance, unless suspended in their operation
until his assent should be obtained ; and

quish the right of representation in the

and distant from the depository of their
public records, for, the sole purpose of
fatiguing them into - compliance with his
measures.
He has dissolved representative houses
repeatedly, for opposing with manly
firmness his invasions 'on the rights of
the people. • . -
He has refused for a long tia l g after
ouch dissolutions, to cause otherkterbe
elected ;whereby the legislative powers,
incapable of annihilation, have returned
to the people at large, for their exercise ;
the state remaining, in The meantime, ex
posed to all the dangers of invasion from
without, and convulskons within. .
He has endeavoured to prevent the
population of these• states ; for that
purpose obstructing' the laws for natu
ralization of . foreigners : refusing to pass
others to encourage their migration
hither, and raising the conditions of new
appropriations of lands.
He has obstructed the administration
Of justice, by refusing his assent to lawsi
for establishing judiciary powers. '

in Mexico, and my cousin, GEN. ZACHARY TAXLOR, has for the past iiireyears
been in the habit of using ikand recommends the same ; he and myself adopted the.
article at the same time, ond it is now considered an almost indispenseble requisite
in the army. In conclusion I would say, that the'better it is known the no re highly
it will bo prized, and I trust that its health-restoring virtues will make irienerally
known threnighout the length and breadth of our widely-extended country,

of the remarkable cure effected by your Sarayparilla I n the case of my wife. She
was severely afflicted with the Scrofula on different pits of the bedy ; the glands of
the neck were greatly enlarged, and her limbs much swollen. After suffering over a
year, And finding no relief from the remedies used, the disease attacked one leg, and
below the knee suppuratqcl.. Her physician advised it should be laid open, which was
done, but without any permanent benefit. In this situation we heard of, and were
induced to use Sixes' Sarsaparilla. The first bottle produced a decided and favor
able effect, relieving her more than any prescription she had ever taken; and before
she bad used six bottles, to the astonishment and delight of her friends, she found her
health quite restored. It is now ovet a year since the cure was effected,-and her
health remains good, showing the disease was thoroughly.eradicated from the system.
