T N DER the provisions of the Act of 1814,
any County paying into the Siaie Treasury
the State Tax levied on such county, prior to the
15111 of July in any year is entit.led to an abate
ment of 6 per cent. on the amount so paid.
The undersigned, Commissioners of Cumber
fond county, in view of the above proliisions,
consider it equitable and proper that those who by
lie prompt payment of their taxes prior to the
above date, citable the Treitsurcr to pay over the
State tax, so as to receive the aforesaid abate
ment of 5 per per cent. '
the benefit of which has
hitherto been enjoyed by the citizens of the
enmity generally, should be allowed a deduction
of that amoubt by the collector—have authorized
the dilli rent Collectote to make said 01 , 1110111CD1
Iron the Fate tax, in all eases where the Slate
and County lax is paid to the collector prior to
the 15111 of July, 1848; when said - abatement shall
amount to one -cent or inure, no fractions of a
cent to be credited.
SinZie the Act of IN 1, the Commissioners Imo
paid the State tax of this county annually to the
Stile Treasurer, within the time prescribed by
the act, and the cennty has received !fie benefit
of an abatement of five per cent. thereon, but to
meet said payment they have found it necessary
heretofore to appropriate a part of the twiny
funds to MOM the deficiency occasioned by de•
Unguents, until the balance of the hitato tax was
collected. therefore becomes hecensary to re•
quire the payment of both State and County tax
to entitle-the payer to the aforesaid abatement,
upon the aforesaid State Tax.
The undersigned therefore confidenay
