That the slavery question is not purely
sectional is more and More apparent.—
The Methodist General Conference, now
sitting in Pittsburg. is perplexed me
morials from individuals and churches in
the Southern States, asking to adhere to
the Northern General Conference, and
protesting against being bound by the Act
of Seperation to unite with the Southern
':"church. A Pittsburg corresppndent of
. the N. Y. Commercial 'Advertiser ex-
presses the opinion that in the course of
two or three years the geographical di
vision of that church will be entirely bro
ken over. 'This is another proof of the
position that the adherents of slavery are
not by any means the whole South, but
only a fragmentary portion of society ere,
and that their influence is wanting at
home.
