For defraying, the expense! and liquidating the
debtof the Borough of Carlisle:
BE it enacted and ordained by the Town
Council of the borough of.Carlisle, and .
it is hereby ordained by the authority of the
same, that the sum of two thousand thice
hundred dollars be assessed and levied upon
the inhabitadts or the borough of Carlisle, for
defraying the expenses and liquidating the
debt of the bond of Carlisle for the year 1847.

UNDER the provisions of thg net of 1844
any county paying into the State-Treasury
the State tax levied on such county, pion to the
15th of July in any year, is entitled to an abate
ment of 5 per cent. tin the amount - tto paid
. The undersigned, Commissioners of Cumber
land county, in view of ..he abate provisions,
censider it equitable findproper - that those who
by the prompt pat ment of their taxes prior to
the above date, citable - the Treasurer to pay over
the Spitclax, so as to receive the itforesaid abate
ment of 5' per cent. the benefit of which hrth
hitherto been eidoyed by the Citizens of the
county generally, should be allowed a deduction
of that amount by the - colleeiar-liave authorized
