We learn from the Harrisburg papers
that the tocblOco members of Iliii - Leg,islature
without a single , eieeption, opposed the pass
age of the resolutions instmcting our members
of Congress to vote for the Repeal of the
Tariff of 184(1 and for the Restoration of the

for popular opinion ! Here is respect for the
ol—Pennsylvania, of New -YorleHof
Ohio : of Massachusetts and New flampshire,
as expressed in the las 4 election ! Or is if
'not rather the most servile and degraded
suhtnission - fo the bite man power? And
the beauty of it is, this same !ocelot° party
in 1844 lied the people into believing that

MA Butt of South Carolina, addressed the

that if she persisted, the .south. would take

To this Mr. Petit of Ind. replied, and in a
very firm and decided -moil .r. tome what

to. incorporate one foot of territory into the
United Slays that was to be covered with
slavery; not because slavery was an injury
to the slave: this he did not believe, he had
no mawkish sympathy for him for he believ

the country, to the owners of slaves,- and net
the slaves themselves. .
