Our neighbors of Harrisburg_ are not apt
p'ermft such • occasions to pass unimproved to
their own.pecuniary benefit, as well as in the dis
play of cordial hospitality.' They'are very much
given in Harrisburg to the practice of holding
Fairs,—as those brilliant bazaars, fttted up Ili ith
more than oriental Magnificent°, are' termed,
where fair merchants unconsciously 'put their
own charms market,' as well as all sorts of
delicate fabrics of fancy texture and refreshing
viands to tempt the eye and ydeac the taste. We
happen to know something of the gorgeous style
in which these things are 'got pp! there, and
know-that they present -alluremente which none
of mere mortal mould may resist. The unsupect
ing Legislator who visits them forgets the mean
iniof 'economy' and 'retrenchment' and makes
involuntare appropriations' to any natant desir
ed. We should not be at all surprised if there
should.be a' blue-stocking' Fair in Harrisburg on
Mmiday, and would therefore advise every visiter to
go "with a pocket full of rocks," as he will wish
he had after he gets there!
