PilE CAUSE OF CONSUMPTION.—Sim
pie as these complaints are usually considered,
no one can, deny their being the most
. commen
cause of this fatal and distressing disimse. It is
indeed a melancholy truth, that thousands fall
'victims to Consumption every year from no other
cause than neglected colds. Yet we find hun
dreds, nay thousands 'who treat such complaints
with the greatest indifference, and let them run
an for weeks and even months without thinking
of the danger. At first you'have what you may
consider a slight cough or cold; you allow
ncss, pleasure or carelessness to prevent you from
giving it any attention; it then settles 'upon yiiur
breast, you become hoarse, have pains in the
side or chest, expectorate large quantities of mat
ter, perhaps mixed with blood, a difficulty, of
breathing ensues, and then you find your own
foolish neglect has brought on this distessing
Complaint. If then you value life or health. be
warned in time, and don't trifle with your dOLD,
'or trust to any quack nostrum to cure you, but
immediately procure a bottle or two of that fa
mous remedy, the "BALSAM OF WILD Cum r,'!'
which is well knoWn to be the most speedy cure
Wei:En - own, as thousaifill will CdififfiilicTso
have been saved by it.
fiTile very particular wlion you purchase to

THE EXTXAORGINARY SUCCESS
Arehtling the use of this medicine in' diseases of
tin.. Lungs, and the many singular cures jt ban ef
fected, having naturally admitted' the attention' of
many. physicians, (as.we'ff RS the whole fraternity hi
quac ks) curious conjectures and surmises have arisen
respecting its composition; sonic
. physicians have
supposed it to contain lodine, other ignorant preten
ders say it must contain Mercury, and to sonic such
substance they each attribute its s i ngular eftleacy.—
,As such opintotts are altogether erroneon R, and cal
culated to prejudice many personengainstit, we'
. PLEDGE OUR EONOR,
That -itcontains nothing of the kind, or any thing
the least injurious; on the contrary t it is composed
of the most simple substances, the principle of which
are the. extracts of TAR and II Ltd Cherry Bark,
and thd whole sedret of its ,ellicacy. consists in the
mode by which_ they are prepared.
As we have already published numerous certifi 7

virtues be . yond_all doubt, we consider it unneeessitry
to exhibit n long list of them in this piaceiand will
only mention a few cases, to show what it has done,
WE HAVE STILL SOME.HOPE.
A SURPRISING GURE.—Among the .many
singular sores Which this intlicitic has effected,
there is perhaps none in which its powers are so
lull,/ shown as in the case of Mrs. Austin.
This lady had been consumptive for several years,
n d during the greater port of thi s time had received
the best medical attention, and tried all the most
valuable remedies, yet nothing could be found to
arrest its progress. She became subject to violent
fits of coughing, expectorated huge immitities of
matter occasionally tinged ,with blood s and step by
step this fearful disease ithitiniteir its - course,
until
all hope of a recovery was entirely despaired of.—
While In this distressing situation, lingering upon
the very verge of the grave, she commenced the. use
of this nalsolm, which, to use her own expression,
operated almost like a charm. In o few days she
expectorated .fiTely, the cough' was gradually sup
'pressed, tool every day appeared to add fresh vigor
to her looks, and now, in the place of that emaciated
form withering to decay, she is seen mingling in
society, in better health than. site has enjoyed fo
Tears.
MST NTERF.STED TESTlTlONY.—Having.witnesscil
the surprising efficacy of Dr. Wistar's Dahadm of
Mild ChOrry, in.the case of Mrs. Austin, I dicer.
fully acknowledge the above statement to he true
