they sell to the store§ at 124 cents, and receive Dry

In order to remedy this difficulty,a large atone.
market-house has been erected in Philadelphia, near
the ColleCtor's office on the Columbia rail road,
' with glazed windows and dry. cellars, called the
' "Car Market "front the circumstance of having a
.braneh from the Columbia rail road running through
it so that Farmers can bring their 'Produce by dhe
morning train. of cars, sell out, and return by the
evening cars, or they catrcome to market by the at: '
ternoon lhm and return the, next day, where their
residence is 50 or 130 miles from the city. .
Even where they reside 100 miles off, they can_

very little expense or fatigue; thus in a few 'hours

this good money will be paid to thud in the city
'there they can buy_ their dry-goods, grOceries, &e.,
at first hands as cheaply as the country merchants
can do, and thus save as much as will pay their toll
on the rail road ; so that, whatever is the difference '
between the yricesat home mid iu Philadelphia, will
be a clear profit. As producers will thus be enabled
.to sell cheaper than those who reside neat , the city,
(who pay more for their farms, and have to bring
their produce by wago . n anti horses,) purchasers will
go there, especially in these " bard times" when
every body teels disposed to save all they honorably
can.
There is another class of Farmers , who live too far
off from the rail road to send their produce to 'mar-
ket in this way, who would bring it to the stores'or,'
depots along the rail road, Should such be establish
ed, and sell to storekeepers or dealers•of produc'e
along the line, who would always be prepared to buy
and forward it to the car market.
It is desirable that suitable
. persona should estab
lish such depots for the reception and forwarding of
such produce, either on commission or on own Sc-.
count. Storekeepers in the interior might thus find
reafly sale and quick retains for produce received
by them: The State beings the cars to the Aliirket
House by steam, so that horse power will not be re-
quired

rr HE CAUSE OF CONSUMPTIQN,ISim
pIc as thesecomplaints are usually censidere'd,
no one can deny their being, the most common
cause of this fatal and distressing disease. It is
indeed a melancholy truth, that thousands fall
victims to Consumption every year from no other
cause than neglected colds. Yet we find hun:
dreds, nay thousands who treat such complaints
with the greatest indifference, and - let them run
on for weeks and even months without thinking
of the danger. At first you have what you may
consider a slight cough or cold; you allow busi.
ness, pleasure or carelessness to prevent you from
giving_ it any attention; itthen settles upon your
breast, yeti become hoarse, bare pains in the
side or chest, expectorate largo quantities of mat
ter, perhaps mixed with blood, a difficulty of
breathing ensue's, and then you find your own
foolish neglect has brought on this, distessing
complaint. Ifthen you value life or health, be
warned in time, and don't trifle with your COLD,
or trustto any quack nostrum to cure you, but
immediately procure a bottle or two of that 'fa.
mono remedy, the "BALSAM OF WILD CllF.Rfty,"
